PREFACE.

IN 1919 Mr. T. M. Cooper and Mr. W. E. Whyte issued "The Law of Housing and Town Planning in Scotland." That work consisted of a codification of the housing and town planning law which was specially necessary at the time as the Housing and Town Planning, &c. (Scotland), Act of 1919, which introduced so many radical alterations in the law, had just been passed. Last year an Act was passed consolidating the housing statutes of Scotland and a similar Act as regards town planning, and it has been thought desirable by the authors to issue this work, which covers the whole legislation down to the end of 1925, with notes and references to cases throughout.

The authors are indebted to Mr. Alexander M'Kinna, of the Scottish Board of Health, for assisting in the selection of the Orders, Circulars, &c., included in the Appendix.
