3. Section ten of the principal Act is hereby repealed.

4. The proviso to subsection (2) of section sixteen of the principal Act is hereby amended, by inserting after the word "month," in the second line, the words "or on the earliest day on which the State Savings Bank is open in any month," and by inserting after the word "month," in the fourth line, the words or on the latest day on which the State Savings Bank is open in any month."

5. A section is inserted in the principal Act as follows:

18A. The State Savings Bank shall be deemed to be an incorporated bank within the meaning of section five of the Trustee Act, 1900, and trustees may invest or deposit trust funds in the State Savings Bank at a prescribed rate of interest on fixed deposit or other

wise.

6. (1) Section nineteen of the principal Act is amended by deleting paragraph (d) and by inserting in lieu thereof a paragraph as follows:

(d) pay or divide the balance to or between the

person or persons who appear to the Attorney General to be entitled to the effects of the deceased according to the Administration Act, 1903, or the Statutes of Distribution."

(2) Section twenty-two of the principal Act is amended by inserting immediately before the words "Statutes of Distribution" the words "Administration Act, 1903, and the."

7. Section twenty-seven of the principal Act is hereby amended by adding thereto a paragraph as follows:"(e) in the purchase of land and the erection of buildings thereon for use in the conduct of the operations of the State Savings Bank." 8. Section thirty-five of the principal Act is hereby repealed.

E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the Married Women's Pro- Short title. tection Act Amendment Act, 1926.

2. (1.) Section fourteen of the Married Women's Pro- Amendment of sec tection Act, 1922 (hereinafter called "the principal Act"),

is hereby amended, as from the commencement of the said Act, by the addition of a proviso, as follows:-

Provided that when an order made under this Act directs any person to make periodical payments, and such person is at any time in default in respect of more than one such periodical payment, such person shall be liable, in respect of the aggregate amount in payment whereof he is so in default as aforesaid, to such process of execution and period of imprisonment, or to such imprisonment only, as he would be liable to if he were in default in respect of one payment equal to the said aggregate

amount.

(2.) The aforesaid proviso shall apply to defaults heretofore or hereafter made.

3. Section sixteen of the principal Act is hereby amended, as from the commencement of such Act, by the addition of a paragraph, as follows:-

This section is without prejudice to the enforcement of orders in manner indicated in section fourteen; provided that no person shall be liable to proceedings both under this section and by way of enforcement in respect of the same default.

1. This Act may be cited as the Shipping Ordinance Short title. Amendment Act, 1926.

2. Section three of the Shipping and Pilotage Consolida- Amendment of tion Ordinance, 1855, is hereby amended by the excision of sec. 3. the proviso thereto.

AN ACT to amend the Co-operative and Provident
Societies Act, 1903.

E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the Co-operative and Provident Societies Act Amendment Act, 1926, and shall be read as one with the Co-operative and Provident Societies Act, 1903, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

2. Section twelve of the principal Act is hereby amended, as follows:-

(1) In subsection (1) thereof the word "September" is substituted for the word "March"; and

(2) In paragraph (c) of subsection (2) thereof the words

"thirtieth day of June" are substituted for the words "thirty-first day of December," in lines two and six.
