CHAPTER 6

An Act to amend An Act to provide for the
Taxation of Persons Holding or Operating
Timber Areas.

IS Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts as

follows:

1. An Act to provide for the Taxation of Persons The Act Holding or Operating Timber Areas, being chapter 5 of the statutes of 1917 (second session), is amended as hereinafter set forth.

2. Section 4 is amended by striking out the words Section + "provincial treasurer" in the second line and substituting the words "provincial secretary."

3. Section 4 of The Corporations Taxation Act, being Application chapter 21 of the statutes of 1913, shall be deemed to c. 21, 8.4. apply and to have applied at all times to the taxes imposed during the years 1914, 1915, 1916 and 1917, under An Act to provide for the Taxation of Persons Holding or Operating Timber Areas, being chapter 20 of the statutes of 1913, and to the persons liable to pay such taxes.

CHAPTER 7

An Act to amend The Wild Lands Tax Act.

IS Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows:

1. The Wild Lands Tax Act, being chapter 4 of the The Act statutes of 1917 (second session), is amended as hereinafter set forth.

2. Paragraph 6 of section 4 is repealed and the follow- New paragraph ing substituted therefor:

"6. All land belonging to the municipality in which the tax is imposed."

3. The following section is inserted immediately after New section section 7:

"7a.-(1) There shall be associated with the wild lands Advisory tax commissioner, for advisory purposes, a committee consisting of two members to be appointed annually by the executive of the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities.

"(2) The duties of the committee shall be to confer with the commissioner from time to time concerning all matters connected with the adjustment of the general scale of values under section 10 of this Act.

"(3) The members of the committee shall receive, for attendance at meetings at which they are requested to be present, such per diem allowance and travelling expenses as may be determined by the Lieutenant Governor in Council."

4.-(1) Subsection (1) of section 10 is repealed and the Section 10 following substituted therefor:

"10.-(1) In every rural municipality, upon the final Fixing the completion of the assessment roll, the secretary treasurer rural municishall immediately notify the wild lands tax commissioner of the fact, and the commissioner may, upon such information and after such inquiries as he may deem suitable direct the assessor to raise or lower in and for the purposes of the municipal assessment for the following year,

the general scale of assessment of all lands within the municipality as shown on the assessment roll for the current year, or he may confirm such general scale of assessment, and the values so determined or confirmed shall be the values for the purposes of the taxation of wild lands hereunder as well as for the purposes of the assessment and taxation of all other lands for general municipal purposes.

(2) Subsection (2) of section 10 is amended by inserting the words "or confirmed" after the word "determined" where it occurs in the first line.
