OF THE SALE OF INTOXICATING LIQUORS. SHORT TITLE. 1. This Chapter may be cited as "The Liquor License Act." 1895, c. 2, s. 1. INTERPRETATION. 2. In this Chapter unless the context otherwise requires: (a) The expression "Council" means the city council of any city, the town council of any incorporated town, or the municipal council of any municipality as the case may be; (b) The expression "district" means a license district, and comprises an incorporated city, town or municipal district; (c) The expression "inspector" means an inspector of licensed premises appointed under this Chapter, and includes every person having the authority of such inspector; (d) The expression "justice" means a justice of the peace, or any person commissioned by the LieutenantGovernor since the first day of July, 1867, or constituted by Act of the Legislature, to act as justice of the peace; (e) The expression "licensee" means a person holding a license under this Chapter; (f) The expressions "licensed premises," "licensed shop," "licensed hotel" and "licensed warehouse," mean respectively, the premises, shop, hotel, warehouse or place in respect to which a license under this Chapter has been granted and is in force, and include every room, closet, cellar, yard, stable, outhouse, shed or any other place whatsoever, of, belonging, or in any manner appertaining, to such shop, hotel, warehouse or place ; |
