R 1913 L MEA AOKK Copyright, 1913, by YRABELI THE Preface 'HE object of this little book is to harmonize the divergent tendencies of personal religion and social religion, to show that they are not at all antagonistic, but mutually supplementary; to make it clear that we need the ideals and ends emphasized by the social awakening to motivate our personal religion, and that the social awakening needs the emotions and enthusiasms of personal religion to vitalize it. We need the insight to discern that personal salvation is a vital requisite to social salvation; and that, if the social hopes of the present age are to be realized, a revival of personal religion must sweep through our civilization.
