CHAPTER 72 An Act to amend an Act to Incorporate "The Bergethaler Waisenamt," a body belonging to a division of Protestants known as "The Mennonites," being Chap. 50 of the Statutes of Manitoba 6 and 7 Edward VII [Assented to February 17th, 1922] IS MAJESTY, by and with the consent of the Legislative 1. The Act incorporating "The Bergethaler Waisenamt," a body belonging to a division of Protestants known as "The Mennonites," being cap. 50 of the Statutes of Manitoba, 6 and 7 Edward VII, is hereby amended by inserting after section 11 the following section: 11A. The said "The Bergethaler Waisenamt" shall have power Additional and are hereby authorized to receive money on deposit, to loan powers. money on real, personal and mixed securities, on cash, credit or other account, on policies, bonds, debentures, bills of exchange, promissory notes or other obligations, on deposit of title deeds, goods, bills of sale and lading, warehouse receipts or other mercantile indicia or tokens, stocks or shares or on the security of existing or future products; to borrow or raise money by the sale of shares, stocks, bonds, debentures or any other securities belonging to the said "The Bergethaler Waisenamt"; to borrow or raise money and to give as security therefor any mortgage or mortgages, promissory note or notes or other obligations, whether now held by the company or which may hereafter be held by the company, and to assign, transfer and set over such mortgage or mortgages, note or notes or other obligations as security for such moneys so borrowed; to make advances upon, hold in trust, issue on commission, sell or dispose of any of the securities hereinbefore enumerated, or to act as agent for the above or like purposes. 2. All acts done by the said "The Bergethaler Waisenamt" purporting to be in pursuance of the powers given under the said cap. 50 of Statutes of Manitoba, 6 and 7, Edward VII, and being in particular the receipt of moneys on deposit and the loaning of money on real, personal and mixed securities are hereby confirmed, ratified and validated. 3. That the name, "The Bergethaler Waisenamt," wherever the same appears either in the title body of the said Act of incorporation, being cap. 50 of the Statutes of Manitoba, 6 and 7, Edward VII, and in any amendments thereto, be changed from "The BergethalerWaisenamt" to "The Bergthaler Waisenamt.' 4. This Act shall come into force on the day it is assented to. CHAPTER 73 An Act to amend "An Act to incorporate the Brandon [Assented to February 17th, 1922] IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the HLegislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows: powers 1. Section 2 of chapter 88 of 46 and 47 Victoria, as enacted Borrowing by section 1 of chapter 40 of 56 Victoria, is amended by striking amended. out of the first and second lines the following words: "any chartered bank of the Dominion" and by substituting therefor the words "any person or corporation willing to lend the same.' 2. The above amendment shall be retroactive and the said Retroactive. "Act to incorporate the Brandon General Hospital" shall be read as if said amendment had always been embodied therein. 3. The issue of debentures by the Brandon General Hospital Validation. for the sum of $200,000.00 under the provisions of By-law No. 29 of the directors of such hospital, passed under the provisions of "An Act to incorporate the Brandon General Hospital," being chapter 88 of 46 and 47 Victoria, and the amendments thereto, is hereby validated and confirmed, and the said debentures and said by-law are hereby legalized, validated and confirmed. representation. 4. Every municipality making a grant to the Brandon Municipal general hospital of two thousand dollars or over shall be entitled to be represented at the annual general meeting or any other general meeting of the members of the said corporation by one member of the council of such municipality, such member to be chosen by said council and at such meeting to have all the privileges of a member of the corporation. And from among the members.of the council of all municipalities making such grant there may be elected at the said annual meeting each year two persons as directors of the said corporation, these two directors to be in addition to the number of directors heretofore provided for. 5. This Act shall come into force on the day it is assented to. |
