8 Who is the King of glory: it is the Lord ftrong and mighty, even the Lord mighty in battell.

Nto thee, O Lord, will I lift up my foul, my God, I have put my truft in thee: O let me not be confounded, neither let mine enemies triumph over me.

2 For all they that hope in thee, fhall not be ashamed: but fuch as tranfgreffe without a cause, fhall be put to confufion.

3 Shew me thy wayes, O Lord: and teach me thy paths.

4 Lead me forth in thy truth,and learn me: for thou art the God of my falvation, in thee hath been my hope all the day long.

5 Call to remembrance, O Lord, thy tender mercies; and thy loving kindneffe which hath been ever of old.

6 Oh remember not the finnes and offences of my youth: but according to thy mercy think thou upon me (O Lord) for thy good neffe.

7 Gracious and righteous is the Lord: therefore will he teach finners in the way.

8 Them that be meek fhall he guide in judgement: and fuch as be gentle, them fhall he learn his way.

9 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and

full unto my finne, for it is great. 10 For thy names fake, O Lord: be merci

11 What man is he that feareth the Lord: him fhall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

12 His foul fhall dwell at eafe:and his feed fhall inherit the land.

walked innocently: my truft hath been. alfo in the Lord, therefore fhall I not fall.

2 Examine me, O Lord, and prove me: try out my reins and my heart.

3 For thy loving kindneffe is ever before mine eyes: and I will walk in thy truth.

4 I have not dwelt with vain perfons: neither will I have fellowship with the deceitfull. 5 I have hated the congregation of the wic ked and will not fit among the ungodly,

6 I will wash my hands in innocency, Ɑ Lord: and fo will I go to thine altar.

7 That I may fhew the voice of thanksgi ving: and tell of all thy wondrous works.

8 Lord, I have loved the habitation of thy houfe: and the place where thine honour dwelleth.

9 Ofhut not up my foul with the finners: nor my life with the bloudthirsty.

10 In whofe hands is wickedneffe: and their right hands are full of gifts.

11 But as for me, I will walk innocently; O Lord deliver me, and be mercifull unto me.

12 My foot ftandeth right:I will praise the Lord in the congregations.

2 When the wicked (even mine enemies and my foes) came upon me to eat up my flesh they ftumbled and fell.

3 Though an hoft of men were laid against me, yet fhall not my heart be afraid and though there rofe up warre against me, yet will I put my trust in him.

4 One thing have I defired of the Lord, which I will require: even that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the dayes of my life, to behold the fair beautie of the Lord, and to visit his temple.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle yea, in the fecret place of his dwelling fhall he hide me, and fet me up upon a rock of stone.

6 And now shall he lift up mine head: above mine enemies round about me.

7 Therefore will I offer in his dwelling an

oblation with great gladne fle: I will fing and Speak praises unto the Lord.

8 Hearken unto my voice, O Lord, when I cry unto thee have mercy upon me, and

heare me.

when I cry unto thee: when I hold up my hands toward the mercie-feat of thy holy temple.

30 pluck me not away (neither destroy me) with the ungodly and wicked doers: which fpeak friendly to their neighbours, but imagine mischief in their hearts.

4 Reward them according to their deeds: and according to the wickedneffe of their own inventions.

5 Recompenfe them after the work of their hands: pay them that they have deserved.

6 For they regard not in their minde the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands: therefore fhall he break them down, and not build them up.

7 Praifed be the Lord: for he hath heard the voice of my humble petitions.

8 The Lord is my ftrength and my fhield, my heart hath trufted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart danceth for joy, and in my fong will I praife him.

9 The Lord is my ftrength: and he is the wholesome defence of his anointed.

10 O fave thy people, and give thy blef fing unto thine inheritance; feed them, and fet them up for ever.

2 O Lord my God, I cried unto thee: and thou

haft healed me.

3 Thou Lord haft brought my foul out of hell: thou haft kept my life from them that go down to the pit.

5 For his wrath endureth but the twink ling of an eye, and in his pleafure is life: heavineffe may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

9 What profit is there in my bloud: when I go down to the pit?

To Shall the duft give thanks unto thee: or fhall it declare thy truth?

11 Heare, O Lord, and have mercie me: Lord be thou my helper.

7 I have hated them that hold of fuperftitious vanities and my truft hath been in the Lord.

21 O how plentifull is thy goodneffe, which thou haft laid up for them that fear thee: and that thou haft prepared for them that put their truft in thee, even before the

22 Thou shalt hide them privily by thine own prefence, from the provoking of all men: thou shalt keep them fecretly in thy tabernacle from the strife of tongues.

23 Thanks be to the Lord: for he hath fhewed me marvellous great kindnesse in a ftrong citie.

24 And when I made hafte, I faid: I am caft out of the fight of thine eyes.

25 Nevertheleffe thou heardeft the voice of my prayer: when I cried unto thee.

26 O love the Lord all ye his faints: for the Lord preferveth them that are faithfull, and plenteoufly rewardeth the proud doer.

27 Be ftrong, and he fhall ftablish your heart: all ye that put your truft in the Lord.

II Great plagues remain for the ungodly: but whofo putteth his truft in the Lord, mercy embraceth him on every fide.

12 Be glad, O ye righteous, and rejoyce in the Lord: and be joyfull all ye that are true of heart.

4 I fought the Lord, and he heard me: yea, he delivered me out of all my fear.

5 They had an eye unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

6 Lo, the poore crieth, and the Lord heareth him: yea, and faveth him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the Lord tarrieth round about them that fear him: and delivereth them.

12 What man is he that lufteth to live,and would fain fee good dayes: keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips that they fpeak no guile.

13 Efchew evil, and do good: feek peace, and enfue it.

14 The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous and his eares are open unto their prayers.

15 The countenance of the Lord is against them that do evil: to root out the remembrance of them from the earth.

16 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth them: and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

17 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a contrite heart: and will fave fuch as be of an humble spirit.

18 Great are the troubles of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of all. 19 He keepeth all his bones: so that not one of them is broken.

20 But misfortune fhall flay the ungodly: and they that hate the righteous, shall be defolate.

21 The Lord delivereth the fouls of his fervants: and all they that put their trust in him fhall not be deftitute.

Lead thou my cause, O Lord, with them that ftrive with me: and fight thou against them that fight againft me.

2 Lay hand upon the fhield and buckler: and ftand up to help me.

3 Bring forth the fpear, and stop the way against them that perfecute me: fay unto my foul, I am thy falvation.

4 Let them be confounded and put to fhame that feek after my foul: let them be turned back, and brought to confufion, that imagine mischief for me.

5 Let them be as the duft before the winde: and the angel of the Lord scattering them. 6 Let their way be dark and flipperie: and let the angel of the Lord perfecute them.

7 For they have privily laid their net to dellroy me without a caufe: yea, even without a caule have they made a pit for my foul.

8 Let a fudden deftruction come upon him

unawares: and his net that he hath laid privily,catch himself: that he may fall into his own mischief.

9 And my foul be joyfull in the Lord; it fhall rejoyce in his falvation.

10 All my bones fhall fay, Lord,who is like unto thee, which delivereft the poore from him that is too ftrong for him: yea,the poore and him that is in miferie, from him that fpoileth him?

11 Falle witneffe did rife up: they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

12.They rewarded me evil for good: to the great discomfort of my foul.

13 Nevertheleffe, when they were fick, I put on fackcloth, and humbled my foul with fafting and my prayer shall turn into mine own bofome.

14 I behaved my felf as though it had been my friend,or my brother: I went heavily as one that mourneth for his mother.

15 But in mine adverfitie they rejoyced, and gathered them together: yea, the very abjects came together againft me unawares, making mows at me, and ceased not.

16 With the flatterers were bufie mockers: which gnashed upon me with their teeth.

17 Lord, how long wilt thou look upon this: Odeliver my foul from the calamities which they bring on me, and my darling from the lions.

18 So will I give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praife thee among much people.

19 Olet not them that are mine enemies triumph over me ungodly neither let them wink with their eyes that hate me without a cause.

20 And why? their communing is not for peace: but they imagine deceitfull words againft them that are quiet in the land.

21 They gaped on me with their mouthes: and faid, Fie on thee, fie on thee, we saw it with our eyes.

22 This thou haft feen, O Lord: hold not thy tongue then, go not farre from me, O Lord.

23 Awake and ftand up to judge my quarrell: avenge thou my cause, my God, and my Lord.

24 Judge me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousneffe: and let them not triumph over me.

25 Let them not fay in their hearts, There, there, fo would we have it: neither let them fay, We have devoured him.

26 Let them be put to confufion and shame together that rejoyce at my trouble: let them be clothed with rebuke and dishonour that boaft themselves against me..
