THE PRINCIPLES OF BANKRUPTCY: WITH AN APPENDIX, CONTAINING The General Rules, 1870, 1871, 1873, & 1878; A SCALE OF COSTS; THE BILLS OF SALE ACTS, 1878 AND 1882; AND THE RULES OF DECEMBER, 1882, RELATING TO BY RICHARD RINGWOOD, M.A., OF THE MIDDLE TEMPLE, ESQ., BARRISTER-AT-LAW; LATE SCHOLAR OF AND UNIVERSITY STUDENT. Second Edition. LONDON: STEVENS AND HAYNES, Law Publishers, BELL YARD, TEMPLE BAR. 1883. PREFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION. A NEW Edition of this treatise having been called for, it has been deemed advisable to issue it at once, notwithstanding signs of early legislation on the subject of Bankruptcy. The text has been thoroughly revised, and in parts re-written, and therein will be found a selection from the cases decided since the previous edition. The great number and importance of these cases, especially of such as relate to disclaimer of leaseholds, writs of elegit, and objections to the registration of resolutions for liquidation by arrangement or composition, as well as the necessity of printing and commenting on the Bills of Sale Act, 1882, have compelled me to make a slight increase in the size of the book, with the result, it is hoped, of adding to its usefulness. I have again to thank my friend MR. SIDNEY WOOLF, of the Middle Temple, for many valuable suggestions. R. R. 7, KING'S BENCH WALK, TEMPLE, February, 1883. |
