The Trustees have held two meetings at which necessary preliminary business was transacted, but the exact terms upon which exhibitions should be awarded have not yet been settled. The two pupil teachers at the Corby School whose term of apprenticeship expired in July last were awarded bursaries of £5 each. TREASURER'S STATEMENT AND BALANCE SHEET. The printed accounts are rendered in an Appendix to this Report, in compliance with the requirements of the Charter. Here it may be sufficient to present (1) a summary statement of the gross receipts and payments when the figures of the outlying Colleges are added, and (2) a summary of balances in hand in London, viz. : II. SUMMARY OF BALANCES IN HAND AT DECEMBER 31ST, 1907. In closing this Report which, it must be remembered, is no more than a brief sketch of some of the past year's events and activities, the Council take leave to express the hope that enough has been said to show that the principles which the Society has advocated for national adoption for a completed century have been faithfully respected and emphasised, that the work in which it is engaged at present in connexion with Training Colleges, schools, and other educational agencies has been prosecuted with undiminished vigour, and that the problems of the future are being faced, and, as far as possible, anticipated. It respectfully claims, therefore, the continued assistance, pecuniary and other, of the Society's members and supporters, and confidently appeals for the alliance of all those who are striving for educational peace, and, concurrently, the advancement of the nation's vital interests.
