Alberta" and by that name shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, in all courts whatsoever and may purchase, receive by request or donation, and hold property real and personal for the use of the society and for more effectually carrying out its objects and may grant, sell, lease, mortgage or dispose of such property.

2. The object of the society shall be to encourage the study of the history of Alberta and Canada, to rescue from oblivion the memories of the original inhabitants, the early missionaries, fur traders, explorers, and settlers of the north and west of Canada, to obtain and preserve narratives in print, manuscript or otherwise of their travels, adventures, labours and observations, to secure and preserve minerals, archaeological curiosities and objects generally illustrative of the civil, religious, literary and natural history of the country and to establish a museum and library.

3. The society or a council or committee elected by it shall have power from time to time to make by-laws, rules and regulations for the government of the society not inconsistent with this Act.

4. The annual meeting of the society shall be held in every year during the month of February for the election of officers notice of the time and place of such meeting to be given by the secretary to each of the members by letter addressed to his or her last known place of abode at least twenty days before the date of such meeting and at such annual meeting members shall be entitled to vote for the election of officers by proxy.

5. The present officers of the society shall be deemed to be the officers of the society until their successors are elected.

CHAPTER 24.

An Act to Amend Chapter 50 of the Statutes of 1906, intituled "An Act to Incorporate the Vermilion and Cold Lak Railway Company."

(Assented to March 15, 1907).

HEREAS The Vermilion and Cold Lake Railway has Preamble presented a petition praying that it be enacted as hereinafter mentioned, and it is expedient to grant the prayer of the said petition;

Therefore His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta, enacts as follows:

1. The company shall have power to construct its railway Powers from a point within the limits of the Village of Lloydminster north-westerly to a point on its authorized line on the south side of the North Saskatchewan River.

CHAPTER 25.

An Act respecting The Diamond Railway Company, Limited.

(Assented to March 15, 1907).

WHEREAS a petition has been presented praying for the incorporation of a company to construct and operate a railway, as hereinafter set forth, and it is expedient to grant the prayer of the said petition:

Therefore His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows:

1. C. W. Clarke, of the city of Winnipeg in the Province of Manitoba, physician; G. F. Stephens of the same place merchant, and Thomas Underwood of the city of Calgary in the Province of Alberta, contractor, together with such persons as become shareholders in the company hereby incorporated are hereby constituted a body corporate under the name of "The Diamond Railway Company Limited," herei after called "The company."

2. The head office of the company shall be in the said city of Calgary.

3. The several clauses of The Railway Act of Alberta shall be and the same are hereby incorporated with, and shall be deemed to be part of "this Act," and shall apply to the said company, and to the railway to be constructed by theri, excepting so far as the same may be inconsistent with the express enactments hereof, and the expression "this Act." when used herein, shall be understood to include the clauses of the said Railway Act as aforesaid.

4. The company may lay out, construct and operate a railway of the gauge of four feet, eight and a half inches, from a point at or near the company's mines in township 10, range 21, west of the fourth meridian, thence to run in a westerly direction to join the proposed revision of the Crow's Nest Branch of The Canadian Pacific Railway Company s line in or near townships 9 or 10, in ranges 32, 23 or 24, west of the fourth meridian.

5. The persons mentioned by name in the first section of this Act are hereby constituted provisional directors of the said company.
