אַל־תָּחס עַל־כְּלֵיכֶם כִּי־טוּב כָּל־אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם לָכֶם הוּא: 21 וַיַּעֲשׂוּ־כֵן בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּתֵּן לָהֶם יוֹסֶף עֶגְלוֹת עַל־פִּי פַרְעֶה וַיִּתֵּן לָהֶם, צֵדָה לַדֶּרֶךְ : 22 לְכְלָּם נָתַן לָאִישׁ חֶלְפוֹת שְׂמָלֹת וּלְבִנְיָמִן נָתַן שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת כֶּסֶף וְחָמֵשׁ חלפת שְׂמָלְת : 23 וּלְאָבִיו שָׁלַח כָּזאת עֲשָׂרָה חֲמרים נשְׁאִים מִטוּב מִצְרָיִם רֶעטֶר אֲתנת שְׁלֹת בַּר וְלֶחֶם וּמָזוֹן לְאָבִיו לַדֶּרֶךְ : 24 וַיְשַׁלַּח אֶת־אֶחָיו וילכוּ וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם אַל־תִּרְגְּזוּ בַּדֶּרֶךְ : 25 וַיַּעֲלוּ מִמִּצְרַיִם וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן אֶל־יַעֲקֶב אֲבִיהֶם : 26 וַיַּגִּדוּ לוֹ לֵאמר עָוֹד סף חי וְכִי־הוּא משֵׁל בְּכָל־אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם וַיִּפֶן לִבּוֹ כָּי לֹא־הֶאֱמִין לָהֶם: 27 וַיְדַבְּרוּ אֵלָיו אֵת כָּל־דִּבְרֵי יוֹסֵף

אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר אֲלֵהֶם וַיַּרְא אֶת־הָעֶגְלוֹת אֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַח יוֹסֵף חמישי לָשֵׂאת אֹתוֹ, וַתְּהִי רָוּחַ יַעֲקֶב אֲבִיהֶם : 28 וַיֹּאמֶר

יִשְׂרָאֵל רֶב עַד־יוֹסֵף בְּנִי חָי אֵלְכָה וְאֶרְאֶנּוּ בְּטֶרֶם מו אָמוּת :

וַיְסַע יִשְׂרָאֵל וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ וַיָּבֹא בְּאֲרָה שֶׁבַע וַיִּזְבַּח זְבָחִים לֵאלֹהֵי אָבִיו יִצְחָק : אֱלֹהִים לְיִשְׂרָאֵל בְּמַרְאַת הַלַּיְלָה וַיֹּאמֶר יעקבי יעקב וַיֹּאמֶר הִנֵּנִי : 3 וַיֹּאמֶר אָנֹכִי הָאֵל אֱלֹהֵי אָבִיךְ אַל־ תִּירָא מִרְדָה מִצְרַיְמָה כִּי־לְגוֹי גָּדוֹל אֲשִׁימְךְ שָׁם:4 אָנכִי אֵרֵד עַמָּךְ מִצְרַיְמָה וְאָנֹכִי אַעֲלִךְ גַם־עלה ויוסף ישית יָדְוֹ עַל־עֵינֶיךְ : 5 וַיָּקָם יַעֲקֹב מִבְּאֵר שֶׁבַע וַיִּשְׂאוּ בְנֵי־ ישׂרָאֵל אֶת־יעקב אֲבִיהֶם וְאֶת־־טַפָּם וְאֶת־נְשֵׁיהֶם בָּעֲגָלוֹת אֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַח פַּרְעֹה לָשֵׂאת אֹתוֹ: 6 וַיִּקְחוּ אֶת־ מִקְנֵיהֶם וְאֶת־רְכוּשָׁם אֲשֶׁר רָכָשׁוּ בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן וַיָּבֹאוּ מִצְרָיְמָה יַעֲקֹב וְכָל־זַרְע אִתּוֹ : 7 בָּנָיו וּבְנֵי בָנָיו אִתּוֹ בְּנֹתָיו וּבְנוֹת בָּנָיו וְכָל־זַרְעוֹ הֵבִיא אִתּוֹ מִצְרַיְמָה :

וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמָוֹת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל הַבָּאִים מִצְרַיִמָה יַעֲקֹב וּבָנָיו בְּכָר יַעֲקֹב רְאוּבֵן: 9 וּבְנֵי רְאוּבֵן חֲנוֹךְ וּפַלְוּא וְחֶצְרֹן וְכַרְמֵי : 10 וּבְנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן יְמוּאֵל

I think.gma alludes to ows Rain, and that this part of Egvpe were favoured with heavenly slowers, which was watered by the Nile : 'and being a land of rain, was a proper habitation for the Israelites, who were shepherds and not agriculturists.

This he found necessary to assure them that he was their brother, as they might perceive that he spoke to them in their own language, without an interpreter.

* After he had thus tenderly embraced and wept over them, they talked with him : for before that, they were rather abashed before hiin, when they reflected how basely they had used him.

אֶת־אֲבִיכֶם וְאֶת־בָּתֵּיכֶם וּבְאוּ אֵלָי וְאֶתְּנָה לָכֶם אֶת־ רביעי טוּב אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וְאִכְלוּ אֶת־חֵלֶב הָאָרֶץ: 19 וְאַתָּה

צוּתָה זְאת עֲשֶׂוּ קְחוּ־לָכֶם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם עֲגָלוֹת לְמַפְכֶם וְלִנְשֵׁיכֶם וּנְשָׂאתֶם אֶת־אֲבִיכֶם וּבָאתֶם : 20 וְעֵינְכֶם

It is the opinion of Jarchi, that Benjamin's death is here ineant for he observes, that as his mother died on a journey, they dreaded for him also. But the learned Abarbanel observes that it alludes to their father if he should leave his father, his father would die. This 'explanation perfectly coincides with verse 29.“ And if ye take this also from me, and mischief befal him, ye shall bring “ down my grey bairs with sorrow to the grave."

# And this is the only reason that I am concerned for his safety, for as he was delivered into my care, it is proper that I should be particularly anxious for his return. || Heb. Find my father.

בְנַפְשׁוֹ : 31 וְהָיָה כִּרְאוֹתָוֹ כִּי־אֵין הַנַּעַר וָמַת וְהוֹרִידוּ עֲבָדֶיךְ אֶת־שִׁיבַת עַבְדְּךָ אָבִינוּ בְּיָגוֹן שְׁאָלָה: 32 כִּי עַבְדְּךָ עָרֵב אֶת־הַנַּעַר מֶעס אָבִי לֵאמר אם־לא אֲבִיאֵנוּ אֵלֶיךָ וְחָטָאתִי לְאָבִי כָּל־הַיָּמִים: 33 וְעַתָּה יְשֵׁב־נָא עַבְדְּךָ תַּחַת הַנַּעַר עֶבֶד לַאדֹנִי וְהַנַּעַר יְעַל עַם־אֶחָיו :

34 כִּי־אֵיךְ אֵעֲלֶה אֶל־אָבִי וְהַנַּעַר אֵינֶנּוּ אִתִּי פֶּן אֶרְאֶה מה בָלָע אֲשֶׁר יִמְצָא אֶת־־אָבִי : וְלֹא־יָכל יוֹסֵף

לְהִתְאַפֵּק לְכָל הַנְצָבִים עָלָיו וַיִּקְרָא הוציאוּ כָל־אִישׁ מַעֲלִי וְלֹא־עָמַד אִישׁ אִתּוֹ בְּהִתְוַדְע יסֶף אֶל־אֶחָיו :

ויתן אֶת־־קלו בִּבְכִי וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ מִצְרַיִם וַיִּשְׁמַע בֵּית פַרְעה : 3 וַיֹּאמֶר
