This is to be understood of his grandson Canaan, as most of the wonimentators understand it; as it cannot be said of Ham, for Japheth was younger than him : moreover, if Ham had sinaed, why curse Canaan, and not Ham? but the truth is, that by younger sun, is meant the youngest son of Ham, which was Canaan.

1 HebIs yet all. Il It must be remarked that according to the idiom of the Hebrew language, the word 70(which is translated saying) signifies, to speak, or tell farther, i. e, w acquaint others with the prophecy so received: but as there was nune else, it is rather difficult to account for it; unless we allow that the proper meaning is, that God spake unto Noah, that he should acquaint his children of it.
