An Act to apply, out of the General Revenue, the sum of Four Hundred Thousand Pounds to the Service of the Three Months ending the Thirtieth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

[Assented to, August 3rd, 1898.] E it Enacted by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Parliament of South Australia, as follows:

1. Out of the General Revenue of South Australia there shall be issued and applied, from time to time, for the service of the three months ending the thirtieth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, any sums of money not exceeding in the whole the sum of Four Hundred Thousand Pounds.

Payments not to exceed last year's

Estimates.

2. No payments for any establishment or service shall be made out of the said sum in excess of the rates voted for similar establishments or services on the Estimates for the year ended the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, except so far as such rates are affected by the "Civil Exception. Service Act, 1874," or by departmental regulations.

An Act to amend the Law relating to the Sale of
Fertilisers.

E it Enacted by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Parliament of South Australia, as follows:

incorporation.

1. This Act may be cited as "The Fertilisers Act Amendment Short title and Act, 1898," and shall be incorporated with "The Fertilisers Act, 1894," hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

2. The principal Act and this Act, hereinafter referred to as Application of Act. "this Act," shall apply to guano and to all articles for use as fertilisers of the soil, whether obtained or manufactured in South Australia or imported, and the word "fertiliser" in this Act shall include all such guano and articles: Provided that nothing in this Proviso. Act shall apply to farmyard or stable manure, or any crude nightsoil, offal, or other unmanufactured refuse.

3. For the better protection of the public one or more Inspectors Inspectors. of Fertilisers shall be appointed by the Governor, and on the recommendation of Municipal Corporations and District Councils may appoint Local Inspectors of Fertilisers. The word "Inspector" in this Act includes Inspectors and Local Inspectors.
