An Act to authorise the Treasurer to raise Moneys to the

amount of One Million Seven Hundred and
Twenty-three Thousand Seven Hundred and
Fifty Pounds, for various Public Works, and
for other purposes.

[Assented to, December 23rd, 1898.]

E it Enacted by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the

Parliament of South Australia, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as “ The Public Purposes Loan Act, Short title and . 1898,” and shall be incorporated with “ The Consolidated Stock and incorporation. Sinking Fund Act, 1896."

2. The Treasurer may raise money to the amount of One Million Power to borrow. Seven Hundred and Twenty-three Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Pounds, by the issue and sale of South Australian Consoli. dated Stock, or of Treasury Bills, such Treasury Bills bearing not more than three and a half per centum annual interest, and having not more than five years' currency, or partly one and partly the other.

3. All sums of money raised under this Act shall be carried by Application of the Treasurer to separate and distinct accounts, and shall be applied moneys. to the several purposes set forth in the Schedule hereto, details of which are contained in Parliamentary Paper No. 1219 of 1898, and to the extent therein set forth ; and shall be applied by the Treasurer in such amounts and manner as the Governor, by warrant under his hand, countersigned by the Chief Secretary, may from time to time authorise and direct.

4. All salaries of officers payable out of moneys raised under this Act shall be annually submitted to Parliament.

The Governor may, by warrant, countersigned by the Chief Secretary, authorise the Treasurer to advance to the proper Responsible Minister of the Crown, for the purposes of this Act, any sums of money not exceeding in the whole the sum hereby authorised to be raised; and an amount equal to the sums of money so advanced shall be retained by the Treasurer out of any moneys raised by him under the authority of this Act, and applied in repayment of the moneys so advanced.

An Act relating to Noisy Trades.

[Assented to, December 23rd, 1898.] E it Enacted by the Governor, with the advice and consent of

the Parliament of South Australia:

BE

1. This Act may be cited as “ The Noisy Trades Act, 1898 ”

Short titlo.

2. In this Act-

Definition.

Noisy trades” includes the trades of wood-cutting and

of boiler-making, and also any trades declared by Pro

clamation to be noisy trades:
“ Proclamation ” means Proclamation by the Governor in the

Government Gazette.

3. Proclamations under this Act shall only issue upon the petition Proclamation. of a Municipal Corporation or District Council, and shall only have effect within the municipality or district petitioning and mentioned in the Proclamation.

4. The powers respectively conferred upon Municipal Corpora- Regulation of noisy tions and District Councils by “ The Municipal Corporations Act, 1890,” and “ The District Councils Act, 1887,” in relation to the making, altering, or repealing by-laws shall extend to the making, altering, or repealing by-laws in respect of the following matters: 1.
