CANTICLE OF B. V. M.

Et misericórdia ejus a progénie in progénies: *timéntibus eum.

Fecit poténtiam in bráchio suo: *dispersit supérbos mente cordis sui.

Depósuit poténtes de sede: *et exultávit húmiles.

Esuriéntes implévit bonis: *et dívites dimísit inánes.

All threatening evils let us fly,
And purge all past iniquity.
Merciful Father! lend thine ear;
Co-equal Son! our prayer to hear;
O Holy Spirit! three in one,
Who reign whilst endless ages run.

Amen.

V. Let my prayer ascend to thee, O

Lord,

R. As incense in thy sight.

Ant. Thee, the Father, unbegotten.

CANTICLE OF B. V. M.

My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced: in God my Saviour.

Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid: for behold, from henceforth, all generations shall call me blessed.

For he that is mighty hath done great things to me and holy is his name. And his mercy is from generation to generations: to them that fear him.

He hath shewed might in his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.

He hath put down the mighty from their seat and hath exalted the humble. He hath filled the hungry with good things and the rich he hath sent away empty.

Amen.

V. Dóminus vobiscum.
R. Et cum spíritu tuo.

V. Benedicámus Dómino.
R. Deo grátias.

V. Fidélium ánimæ per misericórdiam Dei requiéscant in pace.

R. Amen.
Pater noster.

He hath received Israel his servant: being mindful of his mercy.

As he spoke to our fathers: to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

Glory be to the Father, &c.

Ant. Thee, the Father unbegotten; thee, the only begotten Son; thee, the Holy Ghost, the Paraclete; the holy and undivided Trinity, with our whole soul and voice we acknowledge, we praise, and we bless; to thee be glory for ever. V. The Lord be with you. R. And with thy spirit.

Let us pray.

Exert, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy power, and come: that through thy protection we may be freed from the imminent danger of our sins, and be saved by thy deliverance. Who livest and reignest, world without end. Amen. V. The Lord be with you.

R. And with thy spirit.

V. Let us bless the Lord.
R. Thanks be to God.

V. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

R. Amen.
Our Father.

V. Dominus det nobis suam pacem. R. Et vitam æternam. Amen.

Here one of the Anthems is sung to be found after Complin, page 94.

The Blessing.

Noctem quiétam, et finem perféctum concédat nobis Dóminus omnipotens. R. Amen.

Short Lesson. 1 Pet. v.

Fratres, sóbrii estóte, et vigiláte : quia adversárius vester diábolus, tanquam leo rúgiens círcuit, quærens quem dévoret: cui resístite fortes in fide. Tu autem, Dómine, miserére nobis.

R. Deo grátias.

V. Adjutórium nostrum in nomine Dómini.

R. Qui fecit cœlum et terram.
Pater noster. (In secret.)
