BROOM'S COMMENTARIES.

COMMENTARIES ON THE COMMON LAW, Designed as introductory to its study. By HERBERT BROOM, M.A., Barrister-at-Law, Reader in Common Law to the Inns of Court. 1856.

"One striking merit in Mr. Broom's bookespecially valuable, moreover, in these days of hurried and slipshod authorship-is his conscientious and careful accuracy. The authorities which he adduces are not only selected and arranged with judgment, but cited with exactitude. We see enough to show us that it has not been written with haste, and that it should not be perused hurriedly. The 'Legal Maxims,' by the same author, has taken its own place as a standard treatise both in America and in this country; and the Commentaries on the Common Law,' brought down to the present day, and in conformity with the latest reported cases,

LEWIN'S LAW OF

is a work of which the merits will, as we think, be admitted now and hereafter, when it has reached many future editions."-Law Times, Jan. 12, 1856.

"In these Commentaries' the student of the English Common Law will find the best elementary guide yet presented to him for acquiring a knowledge of those practical portions of the law of procedure and of contracts which are of every-day use in court and chambers, communicated in a terse and perspicuous style, with a total absence of pedantry but with the highest degree of scientific accuracy."-Daily News, Jan. 14, 1856.

A SELECTION OF LEADING CASES IN EQUITY; with Notes; in Two Volumes. Vol. I.-By FREDERICK THOMAS WHITE and OWEN DAVIES TUDOR, Esqrs., of the Middle Temple, Barristers-at-Law. Vol. II.-By OWEN DAVIES TUDOR, Esq., of the Middle Temple, Barrister-at-Law, 1858.

"This work is indispensable reading for the student who would properly master equity law, the most scientific and interesting branch of our jurisprudence. The selection is made with the soundest judgment, and the appended commentaries are learned, and yet singularly lucid;

in this respect being second only to its famous predecessor. These two volumes will be a treasure to the reading lawyer-to him who desires a scientific acquaintance with his profession."— Law Times.

To be completed in Four Volumes. Vols. I. & II., Royal 8vo. Price 31. 17s. cloth. DAVIDSON'S PRECEDENTS IN CONVEYANCING. Second Edition.

PRECEDENTS AND FORMS IN CONVEYANCING, with an Introduction and Practical Notes. By CHARLES DAVIDSON, Esq., of Lincoln's Inn, Barrister-at-Law, THOMAS COOKE WRIGHT, Esq., of Lincoln's Inn, Barrister-at-Law, and J. WALEY, Esq., of Lincoln's Inn, Barrister-at-Law. 1855-7.

The Publisher begs to call the attention of Gentlemen engaged in the practice of Conveyancing to the new and greatly improved Edition of this well-known Work. In the present Edition will be incorporated DAVIDSON'S COMMON FORMS IN CONVEYANCING, and all the practically useful and valuable parts of MARTIN'S PRACTICE IN CONVEYANCING BY DAVIDSON. The Common Forms (already published in the First Volume, of which the contents are indicated) have been greatly augmented in number, and improved in expression :—the objects embraced by many of the Forms being extended, while the language of all has been made more concise and clear. The Three subsequent Volumes will contain the Precedents of Assurances which were published in the Three Volumes of MARTIN'S CONVEYANCING compiled by Mr. DAVIDSON, and numerous additional Precedents, while the Precedents themselves (like the Common Forms) will be made much more concise, and be adapted to the existing state of the Law and the present practice of Conveyancing Draftsmen. The Notes of the former Work, which principally related to the practice of preparing Drafts, and to such points of Law as bore more immediately on that part of the Conveyancer's duty, will be mostly collected in the more convenient form of Introductory Chapters to the Precedents of the several kinds of Assurances, with such alterations and additions as the present state of the law and practice require. The Work has been wholly directed to the preparation of Drafts, and the Publisher does not doubt that (as in the case of the old Work from which this is taken) the precision, conciseness and uniformity of language in the Forms and Precedents must give them an advantage for practical purposes over any collection hitherto offered to the Profession.

Vols. 3 & 4 will be published as speedily as possible. Vol. 3 will be edited by C. DAVIDSON and J. WALEY, Esq8., and Vol. 4 by C. DAVIDSON and T. C. WRIGHT, EsqS.

In One Volume. Demy 8vo., pp. 1205. Price 21. cloth.
