An Act to apply, out of the General Revenue, a further sum of Nine Hundred Thousand Pounds to the Public Service for the Year ending the Thirtieth day of June, nineteen hundred and twenty-six.

[Assented to, October 15th, 1925.]

E it Enacted by the Governor of the State of South Australia, with the advice and consent of the Parliament thereof, as

follows:

1. Out of the General Revenue of the State there shall be issued Issue and application and applied, from time to time, for the public service of the State of £900,000. for the financial year ending the thirtieth day of June, nineteen hundred and twenty-six, in addition to any sum or sums of money so issued and applied pursuant to the Act No. 1662 and the Act No. 1663, any further sum or sums of money not exceeding in the whole the sum of Nine Hundred Thousand Pounds.

2. No payments for any establishment or service shall be made out of any moneys issued and applied under the authority of this Act in excess of the rates voted for similar establishments or services on the Estimates for the financial year ended the thirtieth day of June, nineteen hundred and twenty-five, except so far as such rates are affected by regulations made under or continued in force by the Public Service Act, 1916.

E it enacted by the Governor of the State of South Australia, with the advice and consent of the Parliament thereof, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the "Broadening of Gauge (Brink- Short title. worth to Gladstone) Act, 1925."

2. The Acts mentioned in the Sche lule, so far as the same are Incorporation. severally applicable to the purposes of this Act and not inconsistent with this Act, but with the exceptions stated in the Schedule, are incorporated with this Act.

3. (1) The Commissioner may alter from three feet six inches to Power to broaden five feet three inches the gauge of the existing line of railway con- from Brinkworth gauge of railway structed between Brinkworth and Gladstone pursuant to the Blyth to Gladstone. to Gladstone Railway Act, 1891, and for that purpose may take up No. 522 of 1891. and relay or reconstruct the said line of railway and may make any and every alteration to and adjustment of the said line of railway and any other line of railway under his control, and the works and conveniences connected with or for the purposes of the said lines of railway, which the Commissioner deems necessary or convenient for working the said first mentioned line of railway as altered pursuant

to this section in conjunction with other lines of railway under his control.

(2) The rails to be used in relaying the said line of railway pursuant to subsection (1) hereof shall be of steel and of the weight of not less than sixty pounds to the yard.
