AN ACT to apply out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund the sum of Eight Hundred and Twenty-nine Thousand Pounds, and from Moneys to Credit of the General Loan Fund Two Hundred and Twelve Thousand Pounds, and from Moneys to Credit of the Government Property Sales Fund Fifty-five Thousand Pounds, and from Moneys to Credit of the Land Improvement Loan Fund Thirtyfive Thousand Pounds, to the Service of the Year ending 30th June, 1919, and to apply out of the Public Account the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Pounds for the purposes of temporary advances to be made by the Colonial Treasurer.

WE the Members of the Legislative Assembly of Western

Australia in Parliament assembled, towards making good the supply which we have cheerfully granted to Your Majesty in this Session of Parliament, have resolved to grant unto Your Majesty the sum hereinafter mentioned and do, therefore, most humbly beseech Your Majesty that it may be enacted: And be it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. There shall and may be issued and applied for or towards making good the supply granted to His Majesty for the service of the year from 1st July, 1918, to 30th June, 1919, the Sum of Eight Hundred and Twenty-nine Thousand Pounds out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund, and from Moneys to Credit of the General Loan Fund Two Hundred and Twelve Thousand Pounds; and from Moneys to Credit of the Government Property Sales Fund Fifty-five Thousand

Pounds, and from Moneys to Credit of the Land Improvement Loan Fund Thirty-five Thousand Pounds, and there shall and may be issued and applied out of the Public Account the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Pounds for the purposes of temporary advances to be made by the Colonial Treasurer; and the Treasurer of Western Australia is hereby authorised and empowered to issue and apply the moneys authorised to be issued and applied, and to make temporary advances accordingly.

2. The said sums shall be available to satisfy the warrants under the hand of the Governor, under the provisions of the law now in force, in respect of any Services voted by the Legislative Assembly during the financial year ending 30th June, 1919, or issued for such purposes; and all expenditure for the purposes of temporary advances as aforesaid shall be recouped by charging the specific appropriations of Parliament applicable thereto, or by the recovery thereof from the Governments or persons on whose account the advances may have been made.

The funds aforesaid shall by force of this Act be and Donnybrook become vested in the Trustees of the Preston Road District Soldiers' Memorial, and any person having control of the said fund or any part thereof shall forthwith, after the passing of this Act, hand the same over to the said trustees, whose receipt shall be a sufficient discharge and release.

3. 4. A certificate of the Colonial Secretary published in the Gazette that any persons are or constitute the trustees or committee aforesaid shall be conclusive evidence of the fact for the purposes of this Act.

AN ACT for consolidating enactments relating to the Interpretation of Acts of Parliament, and for further shortening and interpreting the Language used in Acts of Parliament.

E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the Interpretation Act, 1918. Short titi.

2. The Acts mentioned in the First Schedule to this Act Repeal. are hereby repealed.

(a) any provision of this Act is inconsistent with the
intent and object of the particular Act or regula-
tion to be interpreted, or, in the case of a regula-
tion with the intent and object of the Act under
which such regulation purports to have been made;

or

(b) the interpretation which any provision of this Act
would give to anything contained in such particu-
lar Act or regulation is inconsistent with the con-
text; or

(c) any provision of this Act is inconsistent with any
definition or interpretation contained in such par-
