His loving heart is still
the same :
His love no variation knows. 3 Thou, Lord, wilt carry on,
And perfectly perform
Thy spirit will not let me go 4 The bowels of thy grace
At first did freely move :
The Loving Kindness of the Lord Jesus. • ! AWAKE my soul, in joyful lays,
And sing thy great Redeemer's praise : He justly claims a song from me,
His loving kindness, O how free! 2 He saw me ruin'd in the fall,
Yet lov'd me notwithstanding all ;
His loring kindness, how great! 3 Tho'num'rous hofts of mighty foes,
Tho' earth, and hell my way oppose,
4 When trouble, like a gloomy cloud,
Has gather'd thick, and thunder'd loud,
His loving kindness, O how good! 5 Often I feel my finful heart,
Prone from my Jesus to depart;
His loving kindness changes not.
Soon all my mortal pow'rs must fail
His loving kindness fing in death.
To the bright world of endless day;
Begotten again unto a lively Hope. i BLESSD be the everlasting God,
The : Be his abounding mercy prais'd,
His majetty ador'd.
And call'd him to the sky,
our souls a lively hope,
Our flesh to see the dust,
4 There's an inheritance divine
Reserv'd against that day;
And cannot waste away.
"Till the salvation come :
[RIPPON'S COLL] The Hope, which is the Anchor of the Souls
GOD, my Sun, thy blissful rays
Irradiate, warm, and guide my heart! How dark, how mournful are my days,
If thy enliv'ning beams depart!
Appears to these defiring eyes !
The cheerful morn will never rise ? 5 O let me not despairing mourn,
Tho' gloomy darknefs Spreads the sky;
night with all its horrors fly. 40 for the bright, the joyful day,
When hope shall in assurance die !
In Hope, Hoping against Hope.
Can sov'reign goodness be unkind ? ..
Am I not safe if God is nigh :
That gracious hand on which I live,
And has inmortal joys to give.
On him alone my hopes recline ;
How wide they spread! how bright they shine! 4 Infinite wisdom ! boundiefs pow'r !
Unchanging faithfulness and love !
Nor‘from my refuge e'er remove. 5 My God, if thou art mine indeed,
Then I have all my heart can crave ;
Still kind to hear, and strong to save. 6 Forgive my doubts, O gracious Lord,
And ease the sorrows of my breast ;
HYMN CXL. S. M. [BEDDOME.]
Where'er it is bestow'd !
And is the gift of God! 2. Jesus it owns a king,
An'all atoning Priest,
It claims no merit of its own,
But looks for all in Chrilt. 3 To him it leads the fouls,
When filled with deep distress;
And trusts his righteousness. 4 Since 'tiś thy work alone,
And that divinely free ;
HYMN CLXI. c. m. [DODDRIDGE.]
Chrift, Precious to them that Believe. í JESUS, I love thy charming name,
'Tis musick to my ear ; Fain, would I found it out so loud,
That earth and heav'n might hear. & Yes, thou art precious to my soul,
My transport and my trust;
And gold, is fordid duft.
In thee, doth richly meet ;
Nor friendship half so sweet.
And shed its fragrance there ;
The cordial of its care.
