When on thy awful name we call,
And at thy feet fubmiffive fall,
O! condefcend to hear.

2 Far may thy glorious reign extend,
May rebels to thy fceptre bend,
And yield to fov'reign love:
May we take pleafure to fulfil
The facred dictates of thy will,
As angels do above.

3 From thy kind hand each temp'ral good, Our raiment and our daily food,

In rich abundance come:

Lord, give us ftill a fresh fupply,
If thou withhold thy hand, we die,
And fill the filent tomb.

4 Pardon our fins, O God! that rife,
And call for vengeance from the skies;
And while we are forgiv'n,

Grant that revenge may never reft,
Nor malice harbour in that breast,
Which feels the love of heav'n.

5 Protect us in the dangerous hour,
And from the wily Tempter's pow'r
O fet our spirits free;

And if temptation fhould affail,
May mighty peace o'er all prevail,

And lead our hearts to thee.

6 Thine is the pow'r, to thee belongs The conftant tribute of our fongs, All glory to thy name :

f 8

Let ev'ry creature join our lays,
In one refounding act of praise
Thy wonders to proclaim.

HYMN CCX. L, M. [GIBBONS.]
Prayer for the Brethren.

IIN thee thou all fufficient God,
The Springs of happiness arife;
That cheer this howling wafte below,
And blefs the mansions of the skies.
2 We the productions of thy pow'r,
And penfioners upon thy love;
Look to thy throne with longing eyes,
And wait thy bleffings from above.
3 Protect the young from ev'ry fnare;
And let thy staff support the old ;
Relieve the poor; nor let the rich,
Have all their heritage in gold.
4 Let joyful fouls ftill tafte thy grace;
Give to the mourners heav'nly joy;
Suftain the ftrong; and quick revive
The with'ring plants from their decay.

The Humble Request.

FATHER, whate'er of earthly blifs,
Thy fov'reign will denies,

Accepted at thy throne of grace,
Let this petition rise.

2 Give me a calm, a thankful heart
From ev'ry murmur free :

The bleffings of thy grace impart,
And make me live to thee.

3 Let the fweet hope that thou art mine,
My life and death attend;

Thy prefence through my journey shine, And crown my journey's end.

GR

REAT God, now condefcend
To blefs our 'rifing race;

Soon may their willing fpirits bend

To thy victorious grace.

2 O what a vast delight
Their happiness to fee;
Our warmest wishes all unite,
To lead their fouls to thee.

3 Dear Lord thy fpirit pour,

Upon our infant feed;

And bring the Jong'd for, happy hour,
That makes them thine indeed.

RIPPON'S COLL.]

The firft Day of the Week.

Shake off each flothful band,

The wonders of this day,

Our fabbath fongs demand.
Aufpicious morn! thy blissful rays,
Bright feraphs hail in fongs of praife.

2 At his approaching dawn

Reluctant death refign'd;

The glorious prince of life,

His dark domains confin'd:

Th' angelic host around him bends; Amidft their fhouts, the God afcends. 3 All hail, triumphant Lord,

Heav'n with hosannas rings;
While earth in hume ftrains
Thy praife refponfive fings:
Worthy art thou who once was flain
Thro' endlefs years to live and reign.

HYMN CCXIV. L. M. [STENNET.]
Before Sermon.

HERE two or three,with sweet accord,
Obedient to their fov'reign Lord,

Meet to recount his acts of grace,
And offer folemn prayer and praise.
2 There fays the Saviour will I be,
Amid this little company;

To them unveil my fmiling face;
And shed my glories round the place.
3 We meet at thy command, dear Lord,
Relying on thy faithful word;

I

Now fend thy fpirit from above:
And fill our hearts with heav'nly love.

HYMN CCXV. L. M. [HART.]
After Sermon.

DIS

ISMISS us with thy bleffing Lord,
Help us to feed upon thy word;
All that has been amifs forgive,
And let thy truth within us live.

Tho' we are guilty, thou art good;
Wafh all our works in Jefus' blood;
Give ev'ry fetter'd foul release,

And let us all depart in peace.

HYMN CCXVI. C. M. [RIPTON'S COLL.]
A Morning Hymn.

PO thee, let my firft off'ring rife,
Whofe fun creates the day;

Swift as his glad'ning influence flies,
And spotlefs as his ray.

2 This day thy fav'ring hand be nigh,
So oft vouchfaf'd before;

3

Still may it lead, protect, fupply,
And I that hand adore.

If blifs thy Providence impart,
For which refign'd I pray?

Give me to feel the grateful heart,
And without guilt be gay.

4. Affliction, fhould thy love intend,
As vice or folly's cure;

Patient to gain that gracious end,
May I the means endure.

5 Be this and ev'ry future day,
Still wifer than the past;
And when I all my life furvey,
May grace fuftain at laft..

HYMN CCXVII.
