THE eighth prophecy commences Chapter xlv. verle I. and is continued to the end of the 15th verse of Chapter xlvi.
In this prophecy, the Prophet informs us of the five following important events, that are to take place, at the future restoration of the nation.
First, of the enlarged state of Jerusalem, and the temple; as in yer, 1-6.
66 More over, when ye shall divide the land by lot for inheritance, ye shall offer an oblation unto VOL. III.
the LORD, an holy portion of the land; the length (shall be) the length of five and twenty thousand (rods), and the breadth ten thousand ; this (shall be) holy in all the borders thereof round about. Of this there shall be for the sanctuary five hundred (in length), by five hundred (in breadth), square round about; and fifty cubits for the suburbs thereof round about. And of this measure thalt thou measure the length of five and twenty thousand, and the breadth of ten thousand ; and therein shall be the sanctuary, (even) the most holy (place). This holy portion of the land shall be for the priests the ministers of the sanctuary, that draw near to minister unto the LORD; and it shall be a place for their houses, and an holy place for the fanctuary. And five and twenty thousand (in) length, and ten thousand (in) breadth, Thall also be for the Levites the ministers of the houfe, (even) unto them, for a possession (for) twenty chambers. And ye shall appoint the pola fefsion of the city, five thousand in) breadth, and (in) length five and twenty thousand, cver against the oblation of the holy (portion): it shall be for the whole house of Ifrael."
