THIS small volume is founded on about seventy text-books, which are referred to in it as often as any use has been made of them, and in other instances where a reference to them seemed desirable. And it is designed as a Companion to the Author's Manual of Equity, which has long been used for examination by the Council of Legal Education at Lincoln's Inn, and a tenth edition of which was published in the year. 1870. The Student may not be able to resort to the treatises on the more specific heads of Law which are cited in these pages; but it will of course be expedient for him to pass on from the perusal of this book to the study of some other general Text-books.
