SECOND SCHEDULE.

PART I.

Description of a Vermin Fence.

A substantial fence with strainers not less than six inches in thickness at the smaller end, one hundred and fifty yards apart, three feet in the ground, and fifty-four inches out of the ground. Jam or mulga posts not less than three inches at the smaller end; other timber four inches; not more than twenty feet apart, twenty-four inches in the ground, and not less than fifty-four inches out of the ground.

Iron standards not less than 14 inches x inch; not more than 20 feet apart; 15 inches in the ground; not less than 54 inches out of the ground.

Wire netting, minimum seventeen gauge of minimum width of fortytwo inches, and a maximum mesh of one and a-half inches. Six inches of such netting to be fixed perpendicularly in the ground, and thirty-six inches out of the ground. A barb wire with barbs not more than three inches apart three and a-half inches above the netting hung with lacing wire three feet apart. A second barb wire hung with lacing wire eleven and a-half inches above the other barb wire. The barb wires to be fastened to the post with a wire staple put through a hole in the post and turned back on each side of the post with two twists round the barb wire again. Between the two top barb wires a plain wire to be run, joined with lacing wire to the upper and lower barb wire three feet apart. Two plain wires not less than No. 12 gauge steel wire or No. 10 gauge iron wire one foot seven inches and three feet six inches above the surface.

Optional to use a barb or plain wire on or below the surface.

PART II.

Description of a Rabbit-proof Fence.

A substantial fence hung with galvanised wire netting, at least fortytwo inches in width, of a maximum mesh of one and a half inches, and of seventeen minimum gauge, furnished with suitable rabbit-proof gates or other rabbit-proof appliances at every necessary break in the fence, and of such other dimensions, including the height above ground and the depth below ground, as may be prescribed, and in all other details in accordance with the regulations.

THIRD SCHEDULE.

Rabbits, foxes, dingoes, dogs run wild or at large, sparrows, starlings.
