(h) To each agricultural society holding a combined field crop and clean seed competition and filing in the Department a return furnishing the same information as is required of a society by paragraphs (c), (d) and (e) of section 23 hereof, an amount equal to sixty per cent. of the amount actually paid out for such prizes, but not exceeding the sum of three hundred dollars in all; [1921, c. 48, s. 3(h).] (i) To each agricultural society holding a spring stallion show and filing in the Department a return furnishing in respect to such exhibition the same information as required of a society by paragraphs (c), (d) and (e) of section 23 hereof, an amount equal to sixty per cent. of the amount actually paid out for such prizes but not exceeding the sum of three hundred dollars;

(j) To each agricultural society holding a good farms competition and filing in the Department a return furnishing in respect to such exhibition the same. information as required of a society by paragraphs (c), (d) and (e) of section 23 hereof, an amount equal to sixty per cent. of the amount actually paid out for such prizes but not exceeding the sum of one hundred dollars;

(2) Notwithstanding the provisions contained in subsection (1) of this section no sum shall be paid to any society thereunder in excess of a sum bearing the same ratio to the moneys appropriated by the Legislative Assembly for the aid of agricultural societies in general, as the sum permitted to be granted to the said society does to the total moneys permitted to be granted to all societies. Disorganization of Societies.

34. In the event of its appearing advisable that any society be disorganized, the Minister may order and declare that, on and after a day to be named by him, such society shall be disorganized, and thereupon the same shall cease to exist and the officers thereof shall cease to hold office. 35. Upon the disorganization of any society the Minister may appoint a liquidator or liquidators to adjust and settle disorganization the assets and liabilities of such society and such liquidator or liquidators so appointed shall have full power and authority to sell and dispose of and convert into money all the assets and property of the society, and shall apply the same so far as the same will extend, first in payment of his or their remuneration, to be fixed by the Minister, and secondly, in payment of the liabilities of the society, and the surplus, if any, shall be paid into the general revenue fund of the Province.

36.-(1) The Lieutenant Governor in Council may make regulations for the guidance of agricultural societies and exhibition associations not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act respecting the manner in which their official books and records are to be kept and governing the conduct and management of agricultural institute meetings, exhibitions and any other undertakings in which such societies are authorized to engage.

(2) No society that fails to carry out such regulations shall be entitled to participate in any appropriation in aid of agricultural societies and exhibition associations provided by the Legislative Assembly.

37. Notwithstanding anything herein contained, women shall be upon an absolute equality with and have the same rights and privileges and be subject to the same penalties and disabilities as men under this Act. [1916, c. 5, s. 2(11).]

CHAPTER 159.

An Act respecting Benevolent and Other Societies.

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta, enacts as follows:

Short Title.

1. This Act may be cited as "The Benevolent Societies Short title Act."

Interpretation.

2. In this Act, "benevolent society" and "society" Definitions shall mean a society incorporated under this Act or under the Ordinance of the North-West Territories entitled An Ordinance respecting Benevolent and Other Societies.

3. (1) Any five or more persons of full age may become Power to incorporated under this Act for any benevolent or provident for certain purpose or for any other purpose not illegal save and except for the purpose of trade or business.

(2) Where any Act other than The Companies Act provides for the incorporation of persons for a special purpose, no society shall be incorporated for that purpose under the provisions of this Act. [C.O. 1898, c. 66, s. 1.]

4. The proceedings to obtain incorporation shall be as Mode of follows:

(a) Such persons shall make and sign a declaration
in writing setting forth the intended corporate
name of the society, the purpose of the society,
the names of those who are to be the first trustees
or managing officers, the mode in which their
successors are to be appointed and such other
particulars and provisions as the society may
think fit provided that the said particulars and
provisions are not contrary to law;

(b) The declaration may be made and signed in dupli-
cate or in as many parts as may be required;

(c) The said declaration shall be filed with the Registrar
of Joint Stock Companies, who shall retain the
same and register the society;

(d) Upon the filing of the declaration the Registrar
of Joint Stock Companies shall certify under his
hand and seal of office that the said society is
