[Assented to 9th June, 1862.] HEREAS it is expedient to make the following provisions Preamble. in amendment of chapter thirty-five of the Consolidated Statutes of Canada, intituled: An Act respecting the Militia: Con. Stat, CaTherefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent nada, cap, 35, of the Legislative Council and Assembly of Canada, enacts as follows: 1. The following paragraph shall be added to the twentieth Sect. 20 Section of the said Act, and shall make part thereof: amended. at any time. "The Commander in Chief may; whenever he deems it Corrected Rolls necessary, order that a corrected roll of every Company of the may be ordered Sedentary Militia be made out; and it shall be the duty of every Officer commanding a Company, within ten days after such order has been received, to make out such corrected Roll and to cause a copy thereof to be transmitted as provided by the foregoing provisions of this section." 2. The twenty-second section of the said Act is hereby Sect. 22 repealed and the following section shall be substituted for it, repealed. and bear the same number: shall consist. "22. The Active Militia of the Province, in time of peace, of what the shall consist of Volunteer troops of Cavalry, Military Train, Active Militia Field Batteries of Artillery, Garrison Batteries of Artillery, Companies of Engineers, and Companies of Infantry, and Marine and Naval Companies, to be armed and equipped according to their respective services and to be formed at such places and in such manner as may, from time to time, be designated or ordered by the Commander in Chief ;--but except Total strength, as hereinafter provided the total strength of such Volunteer Corps shall not exceed ten thousand officers and men in Class A." |
