dom and understanding, with heavenly wisdom and understanding from above. Your hours must therefore be employed on matters of higher importance than the fleeting shadows of this world, however novel in appearance or alluring in form.

It may suffice thus to have pointed out the right road in which you are to go. Much more I could have said, but which is not so necessary.

He, who is willing to exalt his Saviour, and humble himself as a sinner-who repents duly of his sins, and has attained to a right faithwho prays to his God in secret, and worships him in public-who regularly attends his ordinances--who studies his sacred word-and who meditates upon that, and the sins and mercies of his past life, and upon his future hopes-such an one is pursuing his journey as he ought. His habits and dispositions are properly attempered; he will never offend or

act unjustly to man, who is so attentive to his duty towards God.

And now, my friend, let me sincerely thank you for your company hitherto. We are on the right road, but the journey of both may be differently accelerated or retarded, as circumstances occur. We part, but not finally; we bid adieu, but not for ever. Happy shall I be, if I may be deemed worthy to be called companion, guide, and familiar friend; then may we take sweet counsel together, and walk in the house of God in company. By treading thus the path of life, we may meet again before him, in whose presence is fulness of joy, and at whose right hand are pleasures for

evermore.
