Two or more justices may appoint the day and place of meeting for granting licenses ten days at least before such meeting, by warrants directed to the high constable. Licenses granted at any other time and place void. 26 Geo. 2. c. 31. s. 4.

A license signed by a justice who is a brewer, distiller, or dealer in ale or spirituous liquors is void. 26 Geo. 2. c. 13. s. 12.

Two licenses are necessary to authorize a person to keep a public house, and sell ale and spirituous liquors—1st. A magistrate's license under stat. 48 Geo. 3. c. 143. and 2dly. An excise license. See Burn's J. 1 v. 55, 6.

ALIENS.

ALIENS neglecting after proclamation to depart the realm, to be committed to the common gaol, by one justice. 56 Geo. 3, c. 86, s. 1.

Aliens refusing to produce their certificate, P. imprisonment, not exceeding one month. 2 J. Ibid. s. 9.

One justice may grant new certificates in lieu of such as shall appear to be lost, upon aliens producing copies of certificates so lost. Ibid. s. 11. 7 Geo. 4, c. 54, s. 12.

When aliens have been in custody two months, two justices may, upon application, and proof that reasonable notice of the intention to make such application has been given to the secretary of state, continue in or discharge such aliens from custody. Ibid. s. 18.

Every alien who shall be in the realm at the commencement of this act (1st July 1826,) shall make a declaration of his abode, name, &c. and transmit the same within 14 days to Alien office. 7 Geo. 4, c. 54, s. 1.

Alien on arrival from abroad to declare his name and description, &c. Ibid. s. 3.

Officer of customs to deliver certificate of declaration to Alien. Ibid. s. 4.

Alien within one week after arrival shall produce or transmit certificate to Alien office, and make declaration where he intends to reside. Ibid. s. 6.
