PREFACE

TO THE FOURTH EDITION.

In the last edition, I had to deal with the modifications in the law and practice introduced by the Arbitration Act, 1889. In the present edition my task has been limited to bringing the decisions under that Act and the general law applicable to Arbitrations up to date. These decisions, though not numerous, have been important in settling points of practice and procedure-matters to which the Act was particularly directed.

The precedents have been increased by the addition. of further forms commonly required in practice, including forms of special cases.

My labours have been lightened by the assistance of my friend Mr. Horace Freeman, of Lincoln's Inn, in the preparation of the index, and of my clerk Mr. F. C. Brown in the preparation of the table of cases with references to contemporary reports.

2, NEW COURT, LINCOLN'S INN,

November, 1903.

J. H. REDMAN.
