It concerns the Profession only to know that one of the causes of the delay was the appointment of Mr. PHILIP SMITH, the surviving Reporter, to an office in this Court by the unsolicited favour of the Lord Chief Justice. Since the death of Mr. BEST, his highly esteemed and much lamented colleague, to whose note books he has had access, the sheets as they passed through the press have been carefully revised by Mr. PHILIP VERNON SMITH, of the Inner Temple.
