CHAPTER 59.

An Act to amend The Tax Recovery Act.

(Assented to April 2, 1927.)

HIS

IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta,

enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as "The Tax Recovery Act Short title Amendment Act, 1927."

2. The Tax Recovery Act, being chapter 20 of the Section 45 Statutes of Alberta, 1919, is amended as to section 45 by adding as subsection (2) thereof, the following:

"(2) Whenever any such balance of the proceeds of the sale of a parcel of land remains unclaimed for a period of three years from the day of the sale of such parcel, such balance shall become the property of the municipality within which the said parcel is situated, or of the Crown if the parcel is situated within an improvement district, and shall form part of the general revenue of the municipality or of the Province, as the case may be."

3. This Act shall come into force on the day upon which Coming into it is assented to.

CHAPTER 60.

An Act to amend The Public Works Department Act.

(Assented to April 2, 1927.)

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta,

enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as "The Public Works Depart- Short title ment Act Amendment Act, 1927."

2. The Public Works Department Act, being chapter 14 Section 25 of the Revised Statutes of Alberta, 1922, is amended as to section 25, by striking out of the proviso thereto, the words "fifty thousand dollars" and inserting in lieu thereof the words "one hundred thousand dollars."

3. Section 27 of the said Act is hereby struck out and the New following substituted therefor:

"27.-(1) The Minister shall at or before the tenth day Annual of April in each year, cause to be prepared and submitted to statements the Provincial Auditor, for certification, Trading, Profit and by Minister Loss Accounts and Statement of Assets and Liabilities covering all operations for the fiscal year immediately preceding; and the statements, as certified by the Provincial Auditor, shall be included in the Public Accounts for the year.

"(2) Any profit arising from the operations of the year, Profit as shown by the said statements, shall form part of the General Revenue Fund of the Province.

"(3) In case a deficit has occurred in operations for the Deficit fiscal year, the amount of such deficit shall be deducted from the profit of any succeeding fiscal year or years, before such profit is transferred to the General Revenue Fund."

4. This Act shall come into force on the day upon which Coming into it is assented to.
