PUBLIC GENERAL ACTS

CHAPTER 1.

An Act for Granting to His Majesty Certain Sums of Money for the Public Service for the Fiscal Years ending respectively the Thirty-first day of December, 1923, and the Thirty-first day of December, 1924, and from the First day of January, 1925, up . to the date of final passage of the Estimates for the Fiscal Year ending the Thirty-first day of December, 1925.

WHEREAS it appears by Messages from the Honourable

the Administrator of the Government of the Province of Alberta, David Lynch Scott, and the Estimates accompanying the said Messages, that the sums hereinafter mentioned are required to defray certain expenses of the Public Service of Alberta not otherwise provided for during the financial periods ending respectively the thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, the thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, and the thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, and for other purposes relating thereto : May it therefore please Your Majesty that it may be enacted and be it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as "The Appropriation Act, Short title 1924."

2. From and out of the General Revenue Fund there Appropriation may be paid and applied a sum not exceeding in the whole for items in six hundred and thirty-two thousand, two hundred and eleven dollars and fourteen cents towards defraying the several charges and expenses of the Public Service from the first day of January to the thirty-first day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twentythree, not otherwise provided for and set forth in schedule A to this Act.

From and out of the General Revenue Fund there may be paid and applied a sum not exceeding in the whole eighteen million, eight hundred and eighty-seven thousand, five hundred and twenty-seven dollars and ninety-six cents towards defraying the several charges and expenses of the Public Service from the first day of January to the thirty-first day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, not otherwise provided for and set forth in schedule B to this Act.

4. From and out of the General Revenue Fund there may be paid and applied a sum not exceeding in the whole five million, eight hundred and twenty-one thousand, three hundred and fifty-five dollars towards defraying the several charges and expenses of the Public Service from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, up to the date of the final passage of the Estimates for the fiscal year ending the thirty-first day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, not otherwise provided for and set forth in schedule C to this Act.

5. All sums of money appropriated by this Act and applicable to the payment of the salaries or the increases to the salaries of any persons in the Public Service shall, in the event of the promotion of such persons to higher classes or grades, or on their transfer to other positions in the Public Service, or on their becoming entitled to, or being granted increases of salary under the provisions of any Act or Order of the Lieutenant Governor in Council, in that behalf, be applicable to the payment of the salaries or increases to the salaries of such persons so promoted, or transferred, or becoming entitled to, or being granted such increases; and there may be paid out of the General Revenue Fund such sums of money as have not been voted by the Legislative Assembly but are required for the payment of such salaries and increases of salaries as are duly authorized.

6. The due application of all moneys expended under this expenditures Act shall be accounted for.

Coming into force

7. This Act shall come into force upon the day on which it is assented to.
