Book of Common Prayer
St. Jude (Weymouth)
OLEMNIZE the thoughts of our hearts, O God,
as we address ourselves, this morning, to the realities of life. Make us say what we mean, and mean what we say, when we pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
ATHER of all, God, all we have is of Thee.
Take our thanks, and teach us, That we may learn to do thy will.
RANT to us, Lord, we beseech Thee, the spirit to
think to do , that we, who cannot do anything good without Thee, may by Thee be enabled to live according to thy will. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
ALMIGHTY God, give to thy servants meek
and gentle spirits, that they may be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath. Give them wise and constant hearts, that they may never be moved to intemperate anger for any injury done or offered to them. Lord, let us ever be courteous, easy to be entreated, and desirous to be reconciled. Let no sickness or accident, no employment or weariness, make us ungentle or discontented, ... through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
LMIGHTY God, who has given us grace at this
time with one accord to make our common supplications unto Thee; and dost promise that when two or three are gathered together in thy name Thou wilt grant their requests; fulfill now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of thy servants, as may be most expedient for them; granting us in this world knowledge of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. Amen. "RANT that no word may fall from me against
my will unfit for the present need.*
LORD, let us not live to be useless : for Christ's sake. Amen.*

heart of all our trouble and sorrow, let unconquerable gladness dwell; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
LMIGHTY God, unto whom all hearts are
open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid; cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love Thee and worthily magnify thy holy name, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
LMIGHTY and eternal God, who fillest all
space, whom nevertheless no space can contain ; from Thee, as the source of all things, we have our being; to Thee, as the end of all things, we draw near. We acknowledge that every good and perfect gift is from above. May thy blessing, therefore, descend upon us, thy servants, who apply ourselves to our work;.. inspire us in our enterprises, help on our endeavors, promote our designs, purify our minds that yearn to know themselves and Thee. Be present with us and direct such works as we undertake in dependence on Thee and devote to thy honor. O Father of lights, give us discernment to know the truth. O Father of spirits, give us courage to uphold what we know to be true. O Prince of peace, grant us wisdom to labor for peace, to uproot evil, to worship Thee with one heart; ... through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord.
Amen.* * From "A Chain of Prayer.” By permission.
