mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. For His sake blot out, in His most precious blood, all the sins which we have committed this day, and grant us this night absolution and peace. These things we ask, only in the name and through the merits of Jesus Christ. Amen.

To be said by the Head alone.

Almighty God, we beseech Thy mercy for all our relations and friends; give them grace, we pray Thee, to turn unto Thee and acknowledge their transgressions, that Thou mayest blot them out. We beseech thee to preserve their houses and this house from all danger this night, both ghostly and bodily; give unto us the refreshing rest and sleep that our bodies do require, and raise us up again, we beseech Thee, to see the light of another day, with renewed power to do Thy will, and to walk in the ways of thy most holy commandments. Hear these the

supplications which we make unto Thee, only in the name and through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Amen.

To be said by the Head alone.

O God, whose nature and property is ever to have mercy and to forgive, receive our humble petitions; and though we be tied and bound with the chain of our sins, yet let the pitifulness of Thy great mercy loose us, for the honour of Jesus Christ, Our Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

From the night early awaketh our soul unto Thee, O God, for the light of Thy commandments is upon the earth teach us, O God, by Thy truth, by Thy commandments, by Thy judgments; enlighten the eyes of our minds lest we sleep the sleep of death. Remove from our hearts all darkness; give unto us the light of

the Sun of Righteousness, and preserve our life free from all snares, by the seal of thy Holy Spirit. Direct our footsteps in the way of peace; grant us to see the morning and the day in joy, that we may direct our morning prayers unto Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord; for Thine is the dominion, the power, and the glory, world without end. Amen.

O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works do proceed, give unto Thy servants that peace which the world cannot give; that both our hearts may be set to obey Thy commandments, and also that by Thee, we, being delivered from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest and quietness, through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

Lighten our darkness, we beseech Thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy defend

us from all the perils and dangers of this night, for the love of Thy only Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all, evermore. Amen.

WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY
MORNING.

AFTER SINGING OR READING PSALM.

O GOD, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, three Persons and one God, have mercy upon us.

All. Have mercy upon us.

Spare us, good Lord, spare Thy people whom Thou hast redeemed, and preserve us from offending against Thee this day. All. Spare us, good Lord.

From all evil and mischief; from sin, from the crafts and assaults of the devil from Thy wrath, and from everlasting damnation,

All. Good Lord deliver us.

From all blindness of heart; from pride,
