The wind at starting, at eleven o'clock, was light, from E. S. E. the course forty-two miles, from Cowes to the Nab Light and back again, round a vessel off Yarmouth, and from thence to Cowes. The wind died away as the flood tide slackened, and the Medina was the only vessel to round the Nab light before the tide set in; the other vessels did not round it till two hours or more after, during which time the Medina was making the best of her way back again. During the whole night it was quite calm, and on the next day the yachts arrived thus

Unfortunately, the Wave got on shore, and consequently did not come infor a long time after the ot hers.

The Medina having to give The Cynthia 40 seconds per ton, the latter thus gained the prize by 2m. 40s.

On the following day, Tuesday, the Ball took place, and was both numerously and fashionably attended.

On Wednesday, the match for her Majesty's Cup, value 100 guineas took place, when the under-mentioned yachts started :—

The start took place about 11 o'clock-a light breeze from E.S.E. blowing at the time; the course was from Cowes round a station vessel off Yarmouth, from thence round the Nab Light and back again to Cowes. Off Ryde, the Peri and Gem came into collision, when the Peri's jib boom was carried away, and she thereby in all probability lost the prize. On nearing the Nab Light there was so little wind that some of the yachts were unable to get round. They arrived thus:

There was most brilliant assemblage of yachts in the roads, (upwards of sixty,) and the numerous parties in pleasure boats of various kinds, together with the fire-works displayed at night, added much to the gaiety of the scene.

On Thursday, the annual dinner took place, and was most numerously attended, and the evening's proceedings passed off with great eclat

On Friday, the second R. Y. S. Cup of £75, was sailed for by the following,

ROYAL THAMES YACHT CLUB.

THE last match of the season was to have come off on Monday, August 1, but owing to the want of wind it was postponed until the following day; the following yachts were entered :—the Champion, 25 tons, Henry Gunston, Esq., the Gnome, 24 tons, T. and R. Meeson, Esqs., and the Phantom, 20 tons, J. F. Silby, Esq. The two former only arrived at their stations, and at about 10 o'clock the signal was given for the start; the Champion and Gnome then canted round to the northward, and proceeded down the river, the Champion leading the way; the wind at starting was southerly; in Long Reach an easterly wind sprung up; and in Northfleet Hope the tide began to run up, which compelled the yachts to beat down to Coal-house Point; the Champion rounded the flag buoy at 3 o'clock, and the Gnome at half-past three. There was but little interest in their return to Greenwich, the Champion being far ahead, and she arrived at 22 minutes to six, and the Gnome at 2 minutes to six. The Commander, and many Members of the Club, sat down to a very handsome dinner at the Yacht Tavern; after which, the prize, a very elegant tea service, was presented to Mr. Gunston, who returned thanks, and the party did not break up until a late hour.

The monthly meeting of the Club took place on Thursday, August 4th, at the Club House in Cockspur-street, the Commodore in the

Chair, when Mr. Moate brought forward his motion as to the measurement of yachts; he considering that by the present mode the true tonnage was not ascertained. Mr. Moate then produced some clever models explanatory of his views, and after a few observations sat down. Mr. Meeson seconded the motion, which, upon a division, was lost. Mr. J. D. Lee then brought forward his motion relative to men leaving yachts belonging to the Club without the consent of their employers; when it was resolved, that any man leaving a yacht without the consent of his employer, shall not be employed by any member of the Club during that season.

The secretary then read a warrant which had been received from the Lords of the Admiralty, authorising the Club to carry the Blue Ensign. of Her Majesty's fleet, with the distinctive badges of the Club, and a Burgee to correspond. Communications have been sent to the various members of the Club, giving them directions to adopt the new colours. Several gentlemen were proposed, and others balloted for, amongst the latter was Wilkinson, Esq., owner of the Ann, 21 tons.

I am happy to inform you that the Subscription for a piece of plate to be presented to the Treasurer (- Wheeler, Esq.,) is going on very favourably, a long list of gentlemen have enrolled their names as subscribers, and I have no doubt, from the esteem in which Mr. Wheeler is held by the members of the Club, that a very handsome piece of plate will be presented to him.
