CHAPTER 112.

An Act to amend "An Act to incorporate the Elkhorn
Northern Railway Company."

HEREAS the Elkhorn Northern Railway Company was incorporated under the authority of chapter 92 of the statutes passed in the tenth year of the reign of His late Majesty King Edward the Seventh; and whereas the said company was empowered to construct and operate a line of railway as in the said Act described; and whereas it is expedient to extend the time for the commencement and completion of the said work,

Therefore His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

1. The time for the commencement of the works authorized to be done under the said Act is hereby extended for two years from the coming into force of this Act, and until default is made in the commencement of the said works within the time above limited all the corporate powers of the company shall continue in full force and effect as set out in the said Act of incorporation.

CHAPTER 113.

An Act to amend "An Act to incorporate the Equitable
Trust Company."

[Assented to April 6th, 1912.]

ated under the authority of chapter 93 of 10 Edward VII; and whereas, it is expedient in the public interest to amend the said Act,

Therefore His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

1. Section 29 of chapter 93 of 10 Edward VII is hereby sec. 29 repealed.

2. Section 14 of said chapter 93 is hereby amended by sec. 14 adding after the word "upon" in the second line of the said amended. section the words "and agreements of sale" and after the word "moneys" where the same occurs in the sixth line of the said section the words "forming part of their capital or reserve or accumulated profits in such securities."

3. This Act shall come into force on the day it is assented to.

CHAPTER 114.

An Act to amend Chapter 88 of 9 Edward VII, being “An
Act to incorporate 'The Fidelity Trust Company.'"

IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as

follows:

1. The directors of the company may from time to time, with the consent of the company in general meeting, borrow money on behalf of the company, at such rate of interest and upon such terms as they may from time to time think proper, and the directors of the company may for that purpose make and execute any mortgages, bonds or other instruments, under the common seal of the company, for sums of not less than one hundred dollars each, or assign, transfer or deposit, by way of equitable mortgage or otherwise, any of the documents of title not held by it in trust, deeds, muniments, securities or property of the company, and either with or without powers of sale or other special provisions, as the said directors shall deem expedient.

2. No person holding stock in the company as an executor, administrator, tutor, curator, guardian or trustee shall be personally liable as a shareholder, but the estate and funds in the hands of such person shall be liable in like manner, and to the same extent, as the testator or intestate, or the minor, ward or other interested person in such trust fund was or would be, if competent to act and holding such stock in his own name; and no person holding such stock as collateral security shall be personally subject to such liability, but the person pledging such stock shall be considered as holding the same, and shall be liable as a shareholder accordingly.

3. The company may have agencies in any place in Great Britain or elsewhere for the registration and transfer of debentures or other stock.

4. Notwithstanding anything mentioned in section 25 of the said Act the time within which the company shall go

into operation and commence business is hereby extended for business a period of two years from the coming into force of this Act, extended and the powers in said Act granted are hereby revived accord

ingly.

5. This Act shall come into force on the day it is assented to.

CHAPTER 115.

An Act to incorporate "First Church of Christ, Scientist,
Virden."

Preamble.

[Assented to March 26th, 1912.]

WHEREAS the persons hereinafter named, together with other persons, have united together and organized as a Church of Christ, Scientist, under the name of "First Church of Christ, Scientist, Virden," and for the purpose and object of promoting and advancing the cause of Christian religion in conformity with the doctrines, rules and discipline of the Christian Science Church, and to aid in any benevolent, charitable and philanthropic enterprise by means of educational, missionary or other agencies, instrumentalities and methods available for and tending to such ends and aims; and whereas the aforesaid persons have by petition prayed to be incorporated for the better attainment of their objects, and it is expedient to grant their petition,

Therefore His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

incorporation. 1. Agness Sprague, Evelyn M. Carr, Peter Browning Biggins, Nellie McDougall, Nellie Louise McDougall, Noran Crowle Hunter and Isabel A. Madge, together with all other persons who have heretofore become and are members of the religious society known as "First Church of Christ, Scientist, Virden," and such other persons as may hereafter be received as members of the said church, according to the rules relating thereto, shall be and are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate under the name of "First Church of Christ, Scientist, Virden."

2. The said corporation shall be a Church of Christ, Scientist, according to the teachings of Christian Science, for the purpose and with the object of the dissemination and demonstration of truth as contained in the Bible taught and practised by Jesus Christ, and for the further purpose and object of promoting and advancing the cause of Christian religion in conformity with the doctrines, rules and discipline of the Christian Science Church, and to aid in any benevolent, charitable and philanthropic enterprise by means
