ON THE LAW OF JOINT STOCK COMPANIES, COMPRISING THE COMPANIES ACTS, 1862 TO 1880, WITH THE RULES AND ORDERS, AND PRACTICAL FORMS FOR THE USE OF COMPANIES. BY HENRY HURRELL, OF THE WESTERN CIRCUIT AND THE INNER TEMPLE, AND CLARENDON G. HYDE, OF THE OXFORD CIRCUIT AND THE MIDDLE TEMPLE, ESQUIRES, BARRISTERS-AT-LAW. LONDON: WILLIAM CLOWES AND SONS, LIMITED, 27, FLEET STREET, 1883. PREFACE. In this treatise on the Law affecting Joint Stock Companies it has been the aim of the authors to collect as concisely as may be under appropriate headings the general law bearing upon each particular branch of this important subject, together with such general directions and useful forms as are likely to be required in general practice. The authors are not without hope that their work may be found of assistance to directors and others interested in the management of companies. Feeling that there exist frequent opportunities for the reconstitution of many of the companies which are annually wound up, the authors have devoted a chapter to the important subject of Reconstruction. In submitting this book to the consideration of the legal profession, the authors, whilst conscious of its many shortcomings, venture to hope that it may prove in some degree serviceable. H. H.
