SEVERAL of the following Tracts, were for merly published in the Form of Discipline of the Methodist Episcopal Church; but as this is revised and re-printed once in four years; and as many wish to have every new edition; therefore the General Conference of 1812, ordered these tracts to be left out, that the Discipline might be small and cheap. At the same time they directed their Book-Stewards to select and publish these tracts in a separate volume. " In conformity to these directions, you are now presented with a small volume of Tracts, treating on points of Doctrine, on which the Christian world is greatly divided, (viz.) Predestination, Election, Reprobation, Perseverance, Imputed Righteousness and Christian Perfection. Let the candid reader carefully examine these, and judge for himself; and if he should not find a solution of all his doubts, we presume his prejudices will be softened: and he will have the satisfaction to know that he has examined, what are the real sentiments of his fellow Christians, before he pronounces them true or false. 815 |
