9. If the Metropolitan Board at any time makes default in paying Power of Sinister any principal money or interest secured by any debenture under this in case of default Act, the Minister, if so authorized by the Governor in Council

No. 1207 be entitled to receive from the Treasurer of Victoria, and to receive and recover from the municipalities and the insurance companies respectively, either the whole of the annual contributions which would otherwise have been payable to sueh Board or such part thereof as the Governor in Council may deterinine to be necessary for the purposes of

paying any principal money or interest in arrear, and shall apply to such purposes the moneys so received.

(a) The Government stock having a nominal value of Eight £3,777 128. 9d.

Treasurer, the Chief Secretary, and the Metropolitan
Fire Brigades Board for the purpose of redeeming the said
debentures of the Metropolitan Board falling due on the

may from time to time be sold by the holders thereof;

and
(6) the fixed deposit receipt Number 1594 in the Commercial £2,149 79. 9d.

Bank of Australia Limited payable to the Metropolitan
Board on the thirtieth day of September One thousand
nine hundred and six but which will pursuant to notice
from the said bank dated the nineteenth day of June One
thousand nine hundred and five be paid off by the said
bank on the thirtieth day of September One thousand
nine hundred and five.

and to amend the Surplus Revenue Acts
No. 1904 and No. 1945.

[30th August, 1905.] E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty by and with

the advice and consent of tlie Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Victoria in this present Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows (that is to say) :

1. This Act may be cited as the Surplus Revenue Act 1905, and short title and shall be deemed and taken to have come into operation on the thirtieth day of June One thousand nine hundred and five.

such Schedule in each case ; and (1) the balance of such excess not appropriated or used for the

purposes aforesaid shall be paid by the Treasurer into a fund to be dealt with as Parliament may hereafter direct.

3. The Treasurer may without any authority other than this Act apply the said sum of Fire hundred and eight thousand one hundred and seventeen pounds towards the works and purposes specified in the Schedule to this Act.
