Front Cover
Allen & Unwin, 2005 - 264 pages
M. R. Montgomery's own keen interest in cows began years ago on his cousin's Montana cattle ranch, and in a Cow's Life he traces their history from the formidable, long-extinct aurochs - the six-thousand-pound ancestor of all cattle on Earth - to the ancient cattle roads and drives in England to the selective breeding practices employed by British cattlemen well before Charles Darwin or Gregor Mendel.
