me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death 1 Cor. xi. 23-26.

till he come.

Let us pray.

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who of thy tender mercy didst give thine only Son Jesus Christ to suffer and die for us; we desire to hold his surpassing love to mankind in perpetual remembrance : and while we gratefully and reverentially celebrate this memorial which he hath instituted of himself, may we so call to mind the manifold benefits and blessings we have received from him, that our hearts may be strengthened in faith and hope and love, and we may be acquiring an increasing fitness for that world where he hath gone to prepare a place for all his faithful followers. Amen.

Then the Minister, breaking the bread, shall partake of it himself, and deliver it to the communicants; using first these words :

As a solemn testimony, in the presence of each other, and before God, of our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, let us take and eat of this bread in remembrance of him.

In like manner, on taking and delivering the cup, the Minister shall say:

As a solemn testimony, in the presence of each other, and before God, of our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, let us take and drink of this cup in remembrance of him.

Prayer.

LORD, our heavenly Father, we thy servants earnestly desire thy fatherly goodness mercifully to accept this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, humbly beseeching thee to grant that by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and obedience to thy will, we may obtain the pardon of our sins and everlasting life.

Here we offer and present unto thee, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and our bodies, as a reasonable, holy, and living sacrifice. And although, through our manifold sins, we feel ourselves wholly unworthy, yet we beseech thee to accept this our bounden duty and service, not weighing our merits, but pardoning our offences, according to thine abundant mercies in Christ Jesus our Lord, through whom all honour and glory be unto thee, O Father Almighty, world without end. Amen.

Here a Hymn shall be sung; and the Service then closed with the following Benediction :

THE peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep our hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ, for evermore. Amen.

APPENDIX.

I.

Te Deum laudamus.

WE praise thee, O God: we acknowledge

thee to be the Lord.

All the earth doth worship thee: the Father everlasting.

To thee all Angels cry aloud: the heavens and all the powers therein.

To thee Cherubim and Seraphim: continually do cry;

Holy, Holy, Holy: Lord God of Sabaoth; Heaven and earth are full: of the majesty of thy glory.

The glorious company of the Apostles: praise thee.
