HEREAS by the Public Libraries Act, 1850, Town Preamble. Councils of Municipal Boroughs in England the Popula- 13 & 14 Vict. tion of which exceeds Ten thousand Persons are enabled to adopt certain Proceedings for establishing Public Libraries and 5 Museums: And whereas it is expedient that Town Councils of the same Class of Boroughs in Ireland should have the same Powers as are by that Act conferred on Town Councils in England: And whereas all the Provisions of the said Act are as applicable to Ireland as to England, except the Provisions with respect to the Form of 10 Notice prescribed by the Act requiring Votes as to its Adoption, and with respect to the Manner in which the Votes as to its Adoption are to be taken, which Provisions contain a Reference to the Act for the Regulation of Municipal Corporations in England and Wales: Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and 15 with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the same, That

II. In Ireland the Place or Places at which the Burgesses are to vote shall be inserted in the Notice required by the Public Libraries 5 Act, 1850, in the Manner required by Law in the Notice of Elections of Councillors of Municipal Corporations in Ireland, and that the Votes required to be taken by the Public Libraries Act, 1850, shall in Ireland be taken by such Persons, and such Questions shall be put to each Voter, with such Liability in case of false Answers, as at 10 Elections of Councillors of Municipal Corporations in Ireland.
