I have the honor to inform you that I desire the money which I have paid to the Pension Fund established by the law passed on the 22nd Dec., 1856, (19-20 Victoria, chapter 14, section 7) to be applied toward the payment of the stoppages required in virtue of chapter eleventh of title fifth of the Revised Statutes of the Province of Quebec, respecting the pension fund of officers of primary instruction.

JUDICATURE.

CHAPTER FIRST.

PRELIMINARY PROVISIONS.

SECTION I.

THE SEVERAL COURTS OF JUSTICE.

2289. The courts of the Province, in civil, criminal and Courts of mixed matters, are:

1. The Court of Queen's Bench, divided into the criminal

court and the civil court of appeals;

2. The Superior Court;

3. The Circuit Court;

4. The Commissioners' Court;

5. The District Magistrates' Court;

6. The Court of Sessions of the Peace;

7. The Court of Justices of the Peace;

8. The Recorder's Court;

9. The Vice-Admiralty Court, which is a court of Imperial Constitution, over which the Legislature has no control.

Province; the jurisdiction of the Commissioners' Court, the District Magistrates' Court, the Court of Sessions of the Peace and of the Recorder is limited to certain localities.

SECTION II.

Province are :

OFFICERS OF JUSTICE.

2290. The officers of justice in each of the districts of the Officers of Circuit Court, the clerk of the Crown, the clerk of the peace, The sheriff, the prothonotary, the clerk of the justice. the coroner, the gaoler and all other officers necessary for the administration of justice in the Province.

These officers are appointed, by the Lieutenant-Governor in Appointment.

Council.

A clerk of appeals is appointed in the same manner for the Clerk of whole Province, and a clerk of the Superior Court sitting in appeals. L.C., c. 76, s. 7; C. S. LC., c. 77, ss. 16, 17 and 76; C. S. L. C., c. 79, ss. 20, 21 and 22; 7 V., c. 16, s. 59; 12 V., c. 38, s. 12.
