division of the committee on any question he shall have the casting vote.

8. The physician and surgeons are empowered to order wine for patients in urgent cases.

9. The apothecary shall attend at the Dispensary from ten to twelve o'clock in the morning, and from two to four in the afternoon every day, except Sunday, when he shall attend one hour before the church bell rings, both morning and afternoon.

10. He shall give the president three months' notice previous to his resignation.

11. He shall give notice to the members of the committee of their appointment on the day of the general meeting, and shall send a notice to each the day before every meeting.

12. He shall not practice midwifery though objects should be recommended by subscribers; nor shall he, on any account or pretence whatsoever, follow any private practice.

13. He shall regularly visit at their dwellings those poor persons who have been properly recommended, and cannot attend at the dispensary.

14. He shall not furnish patients with such medicines as they wish to take of their own accord, or by the advice of any other person than a medical officer of the Dispensary.

15. He shall make an inventory of the drugs, instruments, apparatus, &c., belonging to the Dispensary, when he assumes his office, and shall account for the same when he retires.

16. He shall on no occasion lend any instruments, apparatus, or drugs to any person without a written order from a physician or surgeon to the Institution.

17. He shall not order any wine for patients, but apply to a physician or surgeon for an order, if necessary.

18. He shall prepare all such compound medicine as can be prepared with the apparatus belonging to the Dispensary.

19. Such poor persons as are not able to purchase medicines, or pay for a medical attendant in case of sickness or accident, and are desirous of having the benefit of this charity, must procure a recommendation by a subscriber, and attend at the Dispensary at the proper Hours: if not able to come personally, they will be attended at their place of abode by the physician, surgeon, or apothecary, as the case may require.

20. Poor apprentices and servants are deemed proper objects

of this Institution, but they shall not be visited at the houses of their masters or mistresses, unless such masters or mistresses should themselves be proper objects.

21. The name of every patient properly recommended shall be inserted in the book of some physician or surgeon attached to the Dispensary; and every physician's and surgeon's book shall be furnished with a sufficient index, in which the patient's name shall be inserted, with a reference to the page where the case is detailed.

22. Each patient shall be furnished with a card, specifying the page of the book containing his or her case, and the date of the physician's or surgeon's attendance. Every patient shall be required to attend at the next visit of the physician or surgeon, and afterwards as frequently as shall seem necessary.

23. A book shall be kept at the Dispensary, in which shall be entered the name and number (from the commencement of each year) of every patient, his or her age, place of abode, the name of the physician or surgeon under whose care he or she is placed, a reference to the page of the physician's or surgeon's book, and a space shall be left for the name and the result of the case.

This Institution is supported by Annual Subscriptions and Donations. There are about 160 Subscribers.
