Registration of marriages after original failure to register. Registration of births how permissible after sixty days Births, Deaths, and Marriages. [ASSENTED TO 17TH DECEMBER, 1867.] E it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty by and with Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows 1.* 2. In the event of any minister or other person duly authorised having celebrated or celebrating any marriage and having failed or failing to transmit particulars of the same as required by law to the district registrar it shall be lawful for the Registrar-General† to register such marriages after being duly satisfied by a statement on oath or solemn affirmation of the negligence of the minister or other duly authorised person in transmitting the same. 3. After the expiration of sixty days and within three years following the birth of any child in the colony or the arrival in the colony of any child under the age of eighteen months it shall be lawful for the Registrar-General Deputy Registrar-General or any district registrar to register such birth upon the parent or other person making the application paying a fee of two shillings and sixpence and making a solemn declaration duly attested by a justice of the peace according to the * Section 1 (repealing section) repealed, 8 Edw. "The best of his or her knowledge and belief* according to the forms of registration required by law and on the payment of such fee and the making of the declaration as aforesaid the Registrar-General Deputy Registrar-General or any district registrar may and shall register such birth Provided that it shall be lawful for the Registrar-General Deputy Registrar-General or any district registrar and they are hereby required to register immediately after the passing of this Act the births particulars whereof are already in the books of their respective offices but not registered because of their not having been furnished within the proper time required by nineteen Victoria number thirty-four.† 4. This Act shall be styled and may be cited as "The Amended Short title. Registration Act of 1867." THE STOCK RETURNS ACT OF 1893. An Act to provide for Annual Returns of Live Stock. E it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 57 Vic. No. 10. 1. The following terms, as they occur in this Act, bear the meanings Interpretation set against them respectively: "Owner" means the owner whether jointly or severally of any stock, or the authorised agent or superintendent of the "Run" means and includes any run, station, or holding under "Stock" means any one or more horses, cattle, sheep, or pigs, and includes foals, calves, and lambs. of petty 2. On the first day of January, or within one month thereafter, in Returns to be each year, every owner of stock shall, in lieu of the returns of stock made to clerks required to be furnished under the provisions of any Act or Acts now sessions. in force, make and forward to the clerk of petty sessions of the Petty Sessions District in which his stock are kept or pastured, a return in the form of the Schedule to this Act, of the number and description of all [Schedule.] stock kept or pastured by him on the first day of January; and, in the case of travelling stock, such return shall be made by the drover or person in charge to the clerk of petty sessions of the Petty Sessions District in which the stock shall be on the first day of January; and any owner failing or neglecting to make such return within one month from the date on which it was due, or who shall make a false return, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding fifty pounds. Clerks of petty sessions to forward returns to RegistrarGeneral monthly. Inspectors may count stock. Legal procedure. Short title. 3. At the end of every month each clerk of petty sessions shall transmit to the Registrar-General all returns received by him during the month, and such returns shall by the Registrar-General be recorded in a book kept for the purpose, and all such returns shall be recorded in the alphabetical order of the names of the owners and according to the respective Petty Sessions Districts in which the stock are kept or pastured; and such returns shall be used for purposes of "The Diseases in Sheep Acts," "The Brands Act of 1872," "The Marsupials Destruc tion Act of 1892," and "The Rabbit Boards Act of 1891,"§ in lieu of the returns required to be made under each of such Acts respectively, and for statistical purposes generally.|| 4. It shall be lawful for any inspector of sheep or brands, or any person appointed by the Home Secretary, to enter on any run, to inspect any stud, flock, or herd book, and if necessary to count the stock on the run; and any person impeding, or aiding or abetting the impediment of, the inspector, or any person so appointed, in the execution of this duty shall** be liable to a penalty not exceeding one hundred pounds nor less than five pounds. 5. All penalties imposed by this Act may be proceeded for and recovered before any two justices of the peace in the name of any inspec tor of sheep or brands or police constable. 6.
