The amendment offered by Dr. P. C. Williams, affecting Art. IX, title, Annual Meetings, was passed; it orders the time to be the 4th Tuesday of April instead of the 2d Tuesday.

The amendment of Dr. James Carey Thomas, affecting Art. X of the Constitution, referring to additional assessments, was, on motion of Dr. Judson Gilman, laid on the table.

Drs. Wm. Rickert and Eleaser Meierhof were elected to membership in the Faculty; the name of Dr. D. J. Reinhart failed to receive a constitutional majority.

Dr. H. P. C. Wilson, Chairman of the Committee on Library Building, presented a report, referring to the erection of a suitable building for the Library. Action on the report, and also on an amendment to the Constitution relative to the same subject, was, on motion, deferred to the special meeting to be held May 9, 1882.

Under the head of New Business, the following resolutions, offered by Dr. E. F. Cordell, were passed:

Resolved, That the thanks of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty are hereby returned to Dr. G. W. Archer, of Harford County, for valuable donations of books, manuscripts and instruments made to the Library during the past year.

Resolved, That the Corresponding Secretary be instructed to notify Dr. Archer of this action.

Dr. E. F. Cordell also introduced the following resolution, which, after being amended by Dr. P. C. Williams, was adopted:

Whereas, The Chairman of the Library Building Committee has informed this Faculty of the very generous offer of Dr. J. M. Toner, of Washington, D. C., who proposes to bestow his library upon the Faculty, provided a fire-proof building be erected for its reception; and

Whereas, This Faculty is unable at present to comply with the conditions of Dr. Toner's proposition

Resolved, That this Faculty appreciates the liberality of the offer of Dr. Toner of his library, but in view of the impossibility of complying with the conditions accompanying the gift, feels obliged, though unwillingly, to decline the same.

Resolved, That this action be communicated by the Corresponding Secretary to Dr. Toner.

Dr. P. C. Williams gave notice that at a future meeting he would submit an amendment to the Constitution, affecting Article XII.

Dr. J. S. Conrad offered a resolution for the appointment of a Committee from the Faculty to consider the subject of State Supervision of the Insane, with instructions to draft such a bill, to go before the State Legislature, as they may deem wise and efficient. On motion, discussion on the resolution was deferred until the meeting to be held May 9, 1882.

The following, offered by Dr. Judson Gilman, was passed unanimously:

In consideration of the fact that our most excellent and very efficient Recording Secretary is quite unable, from what we hope is only a temporary disability, to perform the large amount of labor connected with the preparation of minutes, &c., for publication

Resolved, That an additional Assistant Secretary be appointed by the President to assist in the work of the Faculty for the coming year.

On motion of Dr. A. H. Saxton, the following was unanimously adopted:

As the members of this Faculty represent a majority of the medical profession of the City and State

Resolved, That a vote of thanks be given to Dr. W. G. Regester, for his kindness and promptitude in supplying the profession with reliable vaccine matter during his official term as State Vaccine Agent.

On motion, the thanks of the Faculty were extended to the President and Trustees of the Johns Hopkins University for the use of Hopkins Hall, and also to the President of the Faculty, Dr. Frank Donaldson, who, in response, congratulated the Association on its prosperity, and especially on the condition of the Library.
