About the author (2004)

BARRETT TILLMAN is a noted military historian and the author of more than thirty books, including Above and Beyond: The Aviation Medals of Honor, Hellcat Aces of World War II, and Hellcats: A Novel of War in the Pacific (Brasseyrsquo;s, Inc., 1996). Tillmanrsquo;s books have been on professional reading lists of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Marine Corps. He lives in Mesa, Arizona.
