28 Vic. c. 20. An Act to extend the Provisions of the Act 26 Vic. c. 19, to certain Ecclesiastical Officers herein named. THE first section of this Act grants the Reverend Jeremiah S. I. Higgs, incumbent of the parish of St. Patrick, and the Rev. W. H. Strombom, rector of the parish of St. John, who had been transferred to such parishes after the passing of the Act 26 Vic. c. 19, the benefit of the third section of that Act notwithstanding such transfer.

The third section enacts that the 3rd sect. of the Act 26 Vic. c. 19, shall be construed in like manner, so as to be applicable to any rector, incumbent, or curate, who may hereafter be transferred from one sphere of duty to another in the Colony.

28 Vic. c. 23. An Act to transfer the Jurisdiction now exercised by the Governor as Chancellor to the General Court and the Judges thereof.

VII. There shall be paid to each of the Judges of the General Court, by reason of the additional duty imposed upon them by this Act, out of the Public Treasury of these Islands by warrant in the usual manner, the sum of 50l. per annum, in lieu of the fees payable to them by and under any table made under this Act; which fees shall be collected by the Registrar of the Court, and be by him paid into the Public Treasury of these Islands.

Schools to be established in certain districts.

28 Vic. c. 40. An Act supplemental to the Education Act, 1864.

I. In addition to the Islands and Districts in schedule to the Education Act, 1864, mentioned, Schools under the said Act shall be established in the following districts, that is to say: The Bluff Settlement, San Salvador, Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Alice Town, North Bimini and Gregory Town, Eleuthera, and teachers shall be appointed thereto, as provided for by the said Act.

II. That there shall be allowed out of the Public Treasury of 28 Vic. c. 40. these Islands and paid to each of such teachers, a salary at and

after the rate of 50l. per annum by warrant in the usual manner. Salaries of

28 Vic. c. 41. An Act to amend the Laws regulating the Department of Civil Engineer, and for more effectually providing for the Superintendence of Public Works.

THIS Act grants the following salaries :—

To the Foreman of Public Works 2001. per annum, with Salaries of
remuneration for travelling expenses when sent to any out
district of the Colony.

To the Clerk in the office of Civil Engineer a further salary
of 901. per annum.

To the Clerk of the Board of Works a salary of 60l. per

annum.

28 Vic. c. 42. An Act to amend the Act of Assembly 19 Vic. c. 7, and other Laws for improving the Sanitary Condition of the Colony.

THIS Act creates the office of Inspector of Nuisances and grants Inspector of to that officer a salary of 150l. per annum.

28 Vic. c. 43. An Act to amend the Laws relating to the Office of Post Master.

THIS Act grants an additional salary to the Post Master of 501. Post Master. per annum.

28 Vic. c. 44. An Act to amend the Act for providing a more equitable Scale of Remuneration to certain Civil Servants of the Crown. (Assented to 3rd May, 1865.)

I. 29 Vic. c. 2. An Act to amend the Laws relating to Salaried Justices stationed at the Out-islands of the Government.

Allowances and By this Act, allowances of House Rent at the rate of 30l. per annum are granted to the Police Magistrate of Harbour Island, Long Island, and Abaco; and the Governor is authorized to defray any expenses incurred by the said Magistrates and the Resident Justice at Inagua, in travelling through their respective districts in the execution of their magisterial duties, over and above the sum of 50l. per annum for each of such officers; provided that the entire sum of money so expended in any one year from the 1st day of January to the 31st day of December shall not exceed the sum of 1001.

29 Vic. c. 23. An Act to amend the Laws relating to the Stipendiary Police Force and the Out-island Gaolers.

GRANTS a salary of 60l. per annum to the constable of the first class to be stationed at Clarence Town, Long Island, and 257. per annum for a gaoler there.

29 Vic. c. 24. An Act for granting a Sum of Money to the Lord Bishop of the Diocese, in aid of the Stipends of certain Clergymen.

GRANTS to the Lord Bishop of the diocese the sum of 100l. per annum, to be applied by him in aid of the salaries of the clergymen whose incomes will be reduced by the withdrawal of the contribution heretofore paid by the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel Abroad.

GRANTS 300l. per annum, payable out of Queen's Fines, as a salary to one Assistant Police Magistrate.

THE second section enacts, that during the continuance of the Expenditure
Education Act, 1864, there shall be paid out of the Public Trea- in salaries, &c.,

Board of Education may vary salaries

of teachers in Out-islands.

29 Vic. c. 30. To amend the Education Acts, 1864 and 1865.

THAT it shall be lawful for the Board of Education from time to time to vary the rates of salary provided by the before recited Acts, or either of them, for the teachers of schools in the Outisland districts of the Colony, so as to make any rate which by either of the said Acts is payable to the teacher of a school at any Out-island district or settlement under the said Acts or either of them, or to any persons appointed under this Act, to be and become payable to the teacher of a school at any other Out-island district or settlement, or to any other person appointed or assigned; and also from time to time, again and in like manner to vary the payment of any salary so transferred, and to make the same payable either in respect of the School to which the same was originally attached, or in respect of any other School as aforesaid: Provided always, that nothing herein contained shall be construed. to authorize the payment out of the Public Treasury of any larger sum of money for the purposes of popular education than is authorized and provided for by the said Acts, or this Act.
