he should hold for six years and then be subject to another similar election, and if again confirmed he should hold for nine years, and then be subject to a third and final election of the same sort. If again confirmed he should hold until retired by reason of reaching an age limit.

The sections appropriate to carrying out this plan for Superior Court Judges and Judges of the Court of Appeal will be found in Appendix B, Section 115, p. 185.

PART VII.

JURY COMMISSIONERS.

SECTION 127. Commission of three-Powers and du2 ties.] In every County in which three jury commission3 ers shall have heretofore been appointed under an Act 4 [here give the title of the Jury Commissioner's Act for 5 counties having not to exceed a specified population] a 6 commission of three jury commissioners shall have such powers and duties relating to the selection of jurors and 8 grand jurors (if any) for service as shall be from time 9 to time prescribed by the orders and rules of the Judicial 10 Council hereinbefore created, and in the meantime and 11 until the same are repealed, altered or amended, their 12 powers and duties shall be such as are prescribed by an 13 act [here insert the title of any jury commissioner's act 14 which may be in force providing for jury commissioners

15 in certain counties].

SECTION 128. Removal of jury commissioners.] Any 2 jury commissioner may be removed from office by the 3 Judicial Council for cause stated in writing by the Chief 4 Justice and proved upon a hearing before said Judicial 5 Council.

SECTION 129. Present jury commissioners continued— 2 Successors appointed by Chief Justice.] The jury com3 missioners holding office under an Act [here insert the 4 title of the last mentioned Act] shall be the first jury 5 commissioners under this Act and shall hold office for 6 such period as is prescribed by the said Act. Upon the 7 expiration of the term of office of each commissioner 8 respectively, as determined by the said last mentioned 9 Act, his place as a jury commissioner under this Act 10 shall be filled by the appointment of the Chief Justice, 11 and each jury commissioner so appointed by the said 12 Chief Justice shall hold office as jury commissioner for 13 the period of three years.

PART VIII.

CLERK AND CLERK'S OFFICE.

SECTION 130. Consolidation of clerks' offices and cre2 ation of office of Clerk of the General Court of Judica3 ture.] The several clerks' offices hereafter mentioned, 4 that is to say, the offices of the clerks of the [here name 5 all the courts consolidated by this Act which have clerks], 6 shall be united and consolidated together and shall con7 stitute under and subject to the provisions of this Act, 8 the office of the Clerk of the General Court of Judicature. 9 There shall be one Clerk of said court, and he shall be ap10 pointed by a majority of the Judicial Council hereinbe11 fore referred to, and shall hold office at the pleasure of 12 a majority of said Judicial Council.

SECTION 131. Powers and duties of such Clerk.] Save 2 as by this Act, or by any rules of court may be otherwise 3 provided, all powers and duties which at the commence4 ment of this Act were conferred or imposed upon the 5 clerks of any of the courts whose jurisdiction is by this 6 Act transferred to the said General Court of Judicature 7 under and by virtue of any law, or rule whatsoever, and 8 which are not inconsistent with this Act, or any rules of

9 court, shall continue and be transferred to the Clerk of 10 the General Court of Judicature.

SECTION 132. Present clerks to be continued in of2 fice-no new clerks to succeed present clerks in office.] 3 The persons holding at the commencement of this Act 4 the offices respectively of the [here name all the clerks 5 whose powers and duties have been transferred to the 6 Clerk of the General Court of Judicature] shall continue 7 to hold said offices for their unexpired terms respectively, 8 and during the continuance of said offices shall be en9 titled to the same compensation and salary as at the 10 commencement of this Act.

11 But they shall during their unexpired terms respec12 tively be subject to assignment to duty by the Clerk of 13 the General Court of Judicature as his principal deputies, 14 and shall be required to perform, as nearly as may be, the 15 duties now required of them by law under the direction 16 of said Clerk of the General Court of Judicature.

17 Upon the expiration of the terms of office respectively 18 of the said clerks of the courts, the jurisdiction of which 19 is hereby by this Act transferred to the said General 20 Court of Judicature, said offices shall not be filled as in

21 the manner heretofore provided by law, but the same 22 shall be deemed to be occupied by the Clerk of the Gen23 eral Court of Judicature.

SECTION 133. Central and branch clerks' offices.] A

2 central Clerk's office and branch offices throughout the 3 State shall be established at such place or places respect4 ively as the Judicial Council may by rule determine. 5 Until such determination the central office shall be at 6 [here name the capital of the State] and branch offices 7 shall be maintained at each place other than that last 8 mentioned at which sessions of the Court of Appeal or of 9 any branch thereof, or of the Superior Court, or of the 10 County Court shall be held.

SECTION 134. Deputy Clerks.] In each county having according to the

2 a population of more than

3 last preceding national census, a deputy clerk of the Gen4 eral Court of Judicature assigned to act as clerk of any 5 division of the General Court of Judicature, or branch of 6 any such division, sitting in said county, shall be ap7 pointed by the Judicial Council and shall hold office at the 8 pleasure of the Judicial Council.
