PREFACE TO THE THIRD EDITION.

of

A THIRD EDITION of this Work has
been rendered necessary by the pas-
sing of the Sale of Food and Drugs Act,
1899, which has made considerable altera-
tions in, and additions to, the law relating
to the Sale of Food and Drugs. This
Act has been incorporated in the body of
the book, and a number of other enact-
ments dealing with the adulteration
food, etc., and which were not contained
in previous editions, have now been inserted
in the Appendix. The notes to the text of
the Acts have been thoroughly revised, and
an introduction has been added in which
the law of Food and Drugs Adulteration
and the changes made by the Act of 1899
are briefly summarised. We take this
opportunity of recording our thanks to
Mr. CHARLES F. LLOYD, of the Inner Temple,
Barrister-at-Law, for the valuable assistance
rendered by him in the preparation of the
present edition.
