ing is hereby validated, legalized and confirmed and made binding and conclusive upon all and every person or persons, corporation or corporations affected thereby to all intents and purposes as if all the requirements of "The Assessment Act " and of any and all amendments thereto in that behalf had in the first instance been strictly complied with and observed.

15. Sections 8, 9 and 10 of Chapter 33 of 61 Victoria are Repeal of s.8. hereby repealed.

16. This Act shall come into force on the day it is assented to.

CHAPTER 36.

An Act to Amend "The Municipal Boundaries Act."

[Assented to July 5th, 1900.]

ER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

:

1. Section 18 of "The Municipal Boundaries Act," being Chapter 102 of the Revised Statutes of Manitoba, is hereby declared to be amended by adding thereto the following words: "Also the part of De Salabury and settlements of St. Malo and Rat River, in the Province of to have always been so. Manitoba, according to the Dominion Government survey thereof," and said section, so amended, shall be construed as if said settlements had always been included in the territory belonging to the Rural Municipality of De Salaberry, and all past assessments, levies of taxes, tax sales and other proceedings made, held, carried on or taken, under any Statute of this Province, in relation to any land within either of said settlements, are hereby declared to have been valid and binding, to the same extent as if said settlements had always been specifically mentioned as being part of the said Rural Municipality; provided that nothing in this section shall affect any litigation now pending.

2. Section 34 of said Chapter 102 is hereby amended by adding the word "and" after the word "ten" in the fourteenth line, and by striking out the words "and twelve" in the said fourteenth line and by adding to said section at the end thereof the following words, "and Township twelve (12) in Ranges numbered 5, 6, 9 and 10 East."

3. Section 38 of said Chapter 102, as amended by section 8 of Chapter 27 of the Statutes of Manitoba passed in the fifty-fifth year of Her Majesty's reign, is hereby amended by adding thereto the following words: "and except townships

13 and 14 and the south half of 15, in Ranges numbered 7 and 8 East, and the east half of Townships 13 and 14 in Range numbered 6 East."

4. The said Chapter 102 is hereby amended by adding thereto after section 17 the following:

17a. The Rural Municipality of Brokenhead shall comprise New municipality of Townships 12, 13 and 14 and the south half of Township 15, Brokenhead, in Ranges numbered 7 and 8 East, and the east half of Townships 13 and 14, in Range numbered 6 East.

5. Section 82 of said Chapter 102, as amended by section Winchester 4 of Chapter 18 of the Statutes passed in the fifty-ninth year reduced. of Her Majesty's reign, is hereby further amended by striking out the word "twenty-five" in the third line thereof and substituting therefor the word "twenty-three."

6. The Rural Municipality of Brenda shall comprise Town- New munici ships 1, 2, 3 and 4, in Ranges numbered 24 and 25 West, both pality of inclusive.

7. The Lieutenant-Governor-in-Council may by Order-inCouncil :

(1) Divide the municipalities formed by this amending Act Order-ininto wards and declare the number of councillors which shall passed. be elected, according to the provisions of "The Municipal Act."

(2) Appoint returning officers for the said municipalities to act at the first elections of reeves and councillors in the said municipalities.

(3) Provide for all necessary proceedings in order to the proper holding of such elections.

(4) Provide that the last revised municipal list of electors for the respective territory comprised in each of the said municipalities shall be used at said elections.

8. The territorial limits of every municipality in this Territorial Province bordering on any navigable river are hereby, where municipalities they are not already, extended so as to include the one-half to include of such river adjacent to such municipality and to the centre rivers of the stream, and if the territory of any municipality as heretofore defined extends on both sides of any such navigable river the whole of the surface and bed of that part of such river which lies within the borders of such municipality shall hereafter be deemed to be part of such municipality.

9. All municipal by-laws now in force in this Province relating to offences shall hereafter apply to all offences committed in or upon the respective parts of such rivers by this

Judicial
Districts.

Act added to such municipalities respectively to the same extent in each case as if this Act had been in force at the time of the passing of any such by-law.

10. The Rural Municipality of Brokenhead shall be deemed a rural municipality comprised within the Eastern Judicial District, and the Rural Municipality of Brenda shall be deemed a rural municipality comprised within the Western Judicial District.

11. This Act shall come into force on proclamation of the Lieutenant-Governor-in-Council.

CHAPTER 37.

An Act to amend "The Municipal Electors Act' in so far as respects the City

of Winnipeg.

enacts as follows:

1. "The Municipal Electors Act," being Chapter 104 of R.S.M. c. 104, the Revised Statutes of Manitoba, shall in so far as respects City of the City of Winnipeg be read as having incorporated there- Winnipeg. with the following provisions:
